Probably so you can’t buy a big enough share to have a say.
Imagine if these shops became Morrisons delivery hubs for click and collect Amazon customers or Amazon prime hubs etc. there’s so much potential with Amazon/Morrisons. And it’s not like the company is expensive to buy out at 10p or even 20p.
Even at 10p Morrisons could own 50% of mccolls and demand that they offload any sites not turning into daily’s. This makes so much sense…Morrisons still won’t have to look after them but will fill in any gaps for investment etc
I’ve been to a few recent conversions and due to attend quite a few more… someone told me today that Uber brings in under 10 orders per day so not the 100 stated by someone else on here.
Some conversions look nice but some are still quite tatty and they are just getting the local Morrisons staff to stock shelves…doesn’t seem to be anyone overseeing the sites and I have not met anyone from mccolls HO.
Overall the good to go product is still poor but I am seeing bacon rolls, rollover hot dogs and Costa Coffee which is an improvement.
I reached out to every exec on LinkedIn and not 1 has connected….where are they all!?
Tbh if you look back they don’t release any news to March..:but they really need to communicate more! What about Xmas? Mdaily? Anything? Surely they don’t want their stocks this low? Valuation is appalling…£20m?
All other M daily sites get a bakery and hot food (independents and rontec etc. and I did overhear a mccolls manager say they will be retro fitted in the future…I’m guess due to price of equipment and labour it’s a no.
I know there are definitely at least 17 sites having a conversion in February. 6 on 9/2 , 4 on 14/2 & 7 on 23/2. But there could be more. They have cut costs in them though as no bakery or hot food being installed now.
Self service checkout crossed my mind too! They should have at least 1 card only self checkout.
Also most branches have a post office…why not combine the post office and shop counter like one stop do and have all staff behind 1 counter?
You didn’t visit Thatcham did you? I agree with most of these things. They just don’t have enough staff to actually manage the increase of sales. And then customers will go else where. I saw a crate of sandwiches just chucked in a chiller. Meal deal is a weird price with almost no range and again empty hot food counter. SHAME! It needed to get behind Food To Go and get one up on Tesco/Sainsburys
Looks like MDaily are holding off putting Bakeries and hot food into Mccolls to MDaily refurbs for some reason. But most refurbs are getting a Costa Express Machine which should put it in line with other Food To Go sites… just need to push this avenue a little harder and get some staff behind the tills. I’ve placed a punt hoping it goes back to 30p+
