If you consider what would have happened to the SP, if the RTO(s) had been completed 6 months ago. We may have seen a brief spike in the SP but, if you missed the opportunity to off-load immediately, I reckon we may have seen the same SP as we have now. At least the Board can (and indeed, it looks like they have) shop around for businesses that are not affected by the oil price crash, or may even take advantage of the low oil price. Would make sense not to be 'in oil' for the short to medium term, wouldn't it? Expect there's a lot more going on than a bus company rto. Problem is that it'll take longer than a couple of weeks before the paperwork is completed, if indeed we've jumped to a new strategy since Xmas. It's not what I signed up for, but little choice now but to wait and hope that they know what they're doing. Ultimately, I'm relieved that we may be out of the oil exploration business, as the prospects for a good win in that sector looks increasingly bleak, given the continuing oil price collapse. I'll sign off by saying that I expect whatever deal they do come up with to be good enough to satisfy those (friends and family, by the sounds of it) who bought in at 46p. GLA Jack

'A new chairman will be appointed on completion of the Proposed Acquisition' Perhaps the above statement provides the answer. For all we know, this might have been the plan from the start, as I expect the new guys from the RTO's, being huge in comparison, will expect a major influence at Board level. I know I would. Anyway, it gives further confirmation, if it were needed, that we are very close to the RTO(s) completion. My guess is 50p minimum and upwards of 90p as something to dream about. We can, IMHO, now relax for Xmas and look forward to a very nice new year. May take a few weeks, but I expect we'll be back at multiples of where we are now (at least x 4) when XPL returns to the market. GLA and have a great Christmas & New Year. Jack

Much of today and the events (or non-events) of the past few months is down to the huge fall in the oil price. The RTO negotiations will have been carried out when the oil price and, therefore, projected profits were at a much higher level. I suspect that there has been an element of re-negotiation, which accounts for the delay in finalising the transactions and, to some extent, the lack of communication from ECR (might have scared the horses). A good time to buy, if you the spare funds or hold if you are already in here. Market makers will be rubbing their hands at the thought of panicking holders into selling at silly prices, when news is just around the corner. Keep the faith. GLA Jack

Nothing sinister that I've heard. In fact, all is apparentley going to plan (just not my/our plan). There are certainly buyers looking around, as I've been asked if I want to sell 75K shares only last week. I didn't and I've not seen any buy or sell transactions amounting to anything like that. This gives me optimism for when the news eventually breaks, because there are clearly very few shares available and existing holders are hanging on to what they have. Good to hear from you TamerInvestor. Got to be very patient with XPL (though not as much as for ECR and some of the old favorites). I expect an announcement before Christmas and for this to cover at least one of the 3 targets. Who knows where the SP could end up here in time. Still expect £1+. GLA Jack

Yes, I'm still around. A little dismayed at the negativity here these days, but it is understandable. What many, including myself, failed to grasp is that the timetable of events would be dictated to a large extent by the target(s) set to be reversed into XPL. My understanding is that this has always been the last quarter of 2014. I am very confident that all is in order and that the RTO will be announced in this quarter. Hi fretfree. No details on the process at all, other than it is progressing and very positive. I expect we're all getting a little impatient but, for what personally will be a life changing event (in a good way), I'm not going to blow a fuse over a few months of waiting. I waited nearly three years for ECR to bring me £150K profit and this is much bigger and with far less risk. GLA Jack

What's happening is that we've been given another opportunity to fill our boots (and I have). All else is the same, but taking time to get sorted. Agree with mills2 that, as we stand now, it would be difficult to get rid of a very large amount of shares, without the price dropping before you could take full value of the sp at the time you decided to sell. However, I expect that situation to be fully resolved after the acquisition(s) are finalised. GLA Jack

Was told should be news in June, but we keep hearing 'news imminent' and nothing (major) is forthcoming. Think we're all getting a little weary and need the acquisition(s) to happen this month. I've no doubt we'll get the result we're looking for though. Keep the faith. GLA Jack

Could not be more right mills2. This guy has been there and done it a few times (just slowly re-read the RNS and let his PROVEN capabilities sink in). Would XPL want or be able to attract an executive of this caliber if their ambitions were not huge and convincing. His connections within the industry must also be a massive bonus for us. The appointment will, more than anything else so far, establish XPL in the minds of the market and begin to attract major players. I've set out my lower and upper limits for the sp a number of times on this BB (i.e. £1 to £1.50 - this year). However, we are being given an insight into the ambitions of XPL and, I believe, I may need to revise my thinking significantly on the sp. We are a fortunate band of investors here and we shall be the envy of many when this plays out. What I also love about XPL is that we need not worry about missing the boat and not selling soon enough, as I expect the sp to continue on an upward trend for many years to come. Not a bad day, all things considered. Thought there would be two parts to the RNS today, so expect another announcement soon (this week???). I'm sure they mentioned somewhere that they wished to appoint new stock market advisers and I believe that whomever they appoint will be big, impressive and geared to moving companies like XPL to the front of peoples minds. They would be daft not to sort out the appointment before the big news, so that they can then manage the acquisition/stock market business. That's what I'd do anyway. Keep the faith. GLA Jack
