Liver experts all well and good but it just might be that statistics experts are what is needed - although granted one would think that Covance would take good care of that, along with the continuous dialogue on experimental design with the FDA. There are so few signs of anything substantial here that I am forced to have as my favourite hypothesis simply that The Trump shutdown forced them to play for time. Not a very responsible play, granted, but perhaps there are no other legal mechanisms for delay open to the FDA?

I didn't mean you personally but, since the webcast, there have been many comments stating or implying that this was gospel and that no new trials would be needed - that is making stuff up, no matter how much we wish it were so!

That statement was nowhere near a definitive one (how could it be??). I'm sure it was correct "at that time", and I said so here at the time of the webcast. I'm a holder, well over 100,000 shares, so I wish it were otherwise (and I personally doubt there will be a request for more trials given the risk/reward of getting this therapy into the clinic BUT, at the same time, there's no point making stuff up!

.. of the opinion that co has orchestrated this FDA "failure" (which really it is not ... at least yet) to look as bad as possible. Why? Perhaps to move shares from the Wall Street sharks (who have not been supportive of Motif's efforts over the past few years and who have made the move to NASDAQ appear foolish) into the hands of a big pharma? I am expecting (hoping) therefore for that pharma to accumulate as many as possible at these massively favourable prices before launching a friendly bid at, say, something above 50p? Stranger things have happened,

....with the thought that a forced sell at 5 pence might have wiped the smile off some of those big players using their bots to depress the price for almost 3 years? Especially if the buyer this week was a pharma willing to pay a decent price for the product. I can dream.

Agree. I still think there is more to this than meets the eye, and that it's probably something closer to finance than to medicine, but I just don't know what it could be. It sure doesn't add up as yet.

If this is a serious fail then it does Covance's (excellent) reputation no good at all. So it's pretty difficult to believe it's as bad as all that?

Yes. Doesn't sit right does it? Well, being optimistic for a second, perhaps there is more to this than meets the eye right now OR perhaps what the FDA want is not going to be such a big additional hurdle - given the lack of any warning signs from them, the latter seems quite possible.
