Always been puzzled by what seems to be an over-reaction by the institutions to the FDA's letter. Only occurred to me today that, tax year-end looming, and assuming the ii's knew (as they should!) that the letter was not an actual rejection, did they see an opportunity to reduce tax, knowing they could buy back in later?? Unfortunately I don't know anything about tax except try to avoid it.... any experts out there (not you Sandy).

Correct - it's a request for clarification rather than a refusal. That's why I was buying more on Doomsday. Nothing is certain but I still think there is every likelihood of eventual approval, and so buying at 5 pence and selling at 70 pence did seem an attractive bet.

In case any Brits here are unfamiliar with this liver-damaging painkiller mentioned by DrFC, it is non other than good old paracetamol.
