I dont think I need coding adjusted.... I am already on 40% band, my employer has this banding on PAYEE or whatever it is called. However if I invest in SIPP this band should be applied, not 20%, so I believe HMRC owes me overpaid tax. I think you are right in that I can only get it back via self assessment for the year... and SYME will be well over current price then.........
Jimmy, I have two SIPPs, one with HL and one with AJBell.... invested in August, all in SYME. I have already got cash (20%) back into my SIPP accounts, both of them. Both brokers pay this relief in about 2 months time. So, say for example AJB, I invested 10k in August, bought SYME straight away, got 2.5k added to my account as 20% tax rebate in October, but more SYME. However I now pay 40% tax (higher rate) from my salary, so my rebate should be 40%, not 20% and HMRC owes me another 20%....... I am just trying to understand how I can claim this...
Hi guys, SIPP question..... If I am a higher tax payer (40%)... and had a standard 20% tax return already given in 2020-21, when and how do I claim the additional return? is it only via self assessment in April? And if so, does anyone know how long it takes to get this extra return on SIPP (is it paid into SIPP or into your bank account?)... Never done that before, hence the question...
I agree with Parm.
The only situation you can fight is if they added money without your asking and then bought shares for you without you asking and knowing... if they added money without you asking and you used them - this is your fault not theirs as you used money you did not own....
As Parm says, pay off and wait until you can sell shares at a profit to repay your credit / loan. If you believe SYME as it should be only your decision. unlikely, but SYME has a risk of going down... so you need to make your own decision what is best in your situation.
Market as a whole - yes, but I would argue though that SYME would benefit from both brexit and covid, and market would be aware of it - we, investors, do our research and understand the company and its direction before we invest, dont we?
I dont think they can be liable... you should know what cash you deposit and use only your cash. if you use cash which is not yours you would be liable as you use what did not belong to you. you have to control your own numbers
I dont use broker credit any longer, but I used to have it with barclays few years ago. You can use up to a certain allowance to buy shares and you need either sell them before settlement or deposit cash to cover that allowance before settlement. Normally it is 3 days. I am surprised they allowed you to be in minus for 2 months...?
