THE Ministry of Mines and Mining Development has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with Zimbabwe is Open for Business Forum to promote the country’s vast investment opportunities so as to realise a 12 Billion mining industry.
The main focus is to create an alliance for unlocking the true value of the country’s mineral value chain.
Mines and Mining Development Minister, Honorable Winston Chitando described the formalization of the relationship as a landmark achievement.
He said the country is already enjoying the dividends of the association as they have managed to promote Zimbabwe in the United Kingdom, Australia, Canada and America.
“I am very grateful that as a ministry today we are entering into an MOU with Zimbabwe is Open for Business Forum to expedite the identification, profiling and evaluation of investment opportunities available in the mining sector in the Republic of Zimbabwe,” he said.
The Chairperson of Zimbabwe is Open for Business Forum, Mrs Nyaradzo Tongogara-Hamphill said their organization will facilitate sustainable exploration, mining, and management of mineral resources for the benefit of all Zimbabweans by identifying investors.
“As an indigenous organization we are there to source and provide the mining industry the right investors to generate revenue for Zimbabwe through sustainable mining,” she said.
The partnership between the two will among other things result in collaboration, evaluation and profiling of mineral assets as well as capacity building for mineral resource development.
