... It may be me misremembering. I do have a faint memory of some American interest in the early days of the new ITV as the share price was quite weak and the former Director General Greg Dyke got together with some potential bidders in either 2005 or 2006. The bids never came to much though.

It's possible your friend was referring to the final merger of the two big players in ITV which happened in 2004. ITV was many small regional stations which were then allowed to buy each other up until that final merger. That needed regulatory approval and it happened in February 2004. The likelihood of any other buyer being allowed to take over the newly formed ITV in those early days was remote. ITV and the BBC were the big players when it came to tv news -which was a necessary part of ITV's licence and the cost of that was a major disincentive to any suitor then... And of course ITV was worth a lot more back then as the Internet and Google etc hadn't undercut the advertising market.

To condone something is to forgive it. I hope your lawyers have a better grasp of English than you do.

Compensation! Not a chance of that from their meagre coffers and not a chance of any action bringing recompense. If behaviour is actionable the last penny will have been long gone by the time this came anywhere near a court

He put in about £500 or £5,000,000. Nothing he says is to be trusted. He posts and always has posted totally contradictory nonsense. He is an attention seeker, quite an amusing character but can be very, very abusive and unstable. Don't take it seriously

Aren't the trades just tiny ones? Micro trades won't tip the scales much I wouldn't have thought. And for every sale there is a buyer?

I see MAST has now dropped almost as far as Met1 now in this race to the bottom.

The market can seem illogical - Nvidia announces better results than expected with a huge order book promising more to come, markets surge and then Nvidia pulls back ending way down on start up.

Met1 earns nothing and lives on a wing and a prayer. It does have one thing in common with its massive brother though.... Met1 pays no dividends and Nvidia pays so close to nothing it might as well not be there🙂

Just to make clear - I have no idea what will happen to Met1 or the companies they have placed/invested/gambled shareholder's money. The reason I chose "In the dark" as my name is because I don't claim to know what the hell is going on.

I just wish that others who appear to be at least as much in the dark as me didn't make unwarranted claims.

Dubious (to say the least) tactics have been used to make this share price soar in the recent past and this has definitely tarnished Met1 for me. Who knew what and when regarding what was going on...and then repeated the tactics at MAST?

But I certainly don't claim to know there won't be a rise in the SP due to mining activities of either their own or other AIM companies where they have invested.

My gut instinct is Met1 will spend any money they have left before they produce an income and pay dividends to the long suffering shareholders. But I am 'in the dark' 🙂

I hope for your sake Met1 finds something and you get out of your financial hole but it doesn't help your cause to keep making these claims. If you click on your name you will see a mass of predictions of "RNS tomorrow, great news", "SP soaring" type stuff. Tons of them. Those predictions didn't come true.

What will be will be. Probably nothing.... and Met1 may fizzle out... but if you can afford to leave what you've got left just leave it and come back next year or in a year's time to see if you're rich.

But please give the predictions a rest unless there is some solid foundation to them rather than a wing and a prayer. All the best.

You are such an optimist! Love your enthusiasm...but there was a drop today. They might find something though 🙂

No licence fee no BBC radio or BBC. The fee pays for it all except for stuff they sell worldwide, which is considerable.

There is no 'institutional bias' at the BBC. To find that you need to go to GB News. There have been mistakes.

Putting people on air who criticise the murderous activities of Hamas and the Israeli Govt in Gaza is fair enough. One is a terrorist organisation that murdered men, women and children and took people hostage. The other has been accused of war crimes by the UN.

You will be hard pressed to find the BBC saying anything. It is their job to air opinions and ask questions. And on the whole, like ITV News, they do it brilliantly.

I'm not so negative. We are world class at talking ourselves down and say things like "we are a laughing stock about this and that". But when you look at our major European neighbours you see extraordinary things going on. Former President in jail in France, massive dissent over bringing in a sensible pension age, Germany struggling with the far right in the east and trying to cope with Trump tariffs and not using Russian gas etc.

We are one of the world's biggest economies despite our tiny size. Not everything is right. A lot is wrong but there's a huge amount of talent, ability and good in the UK

It was more than newspaper speculation. The Chancellor hinted very heavily to the BBC four days ago that there would be an income tax ride. She said she would rather be remembered for doing the right when circumstances changed rather than do the wrong thing and stick to manifesti pledges.

It seems clear this signalling frightened the back bench troops so much there was speculation over Starmer's future as PM. And instead of sticking to what was right in terms of fiscal sense - covering a black hole - the wrong decision has been made for political reasons.

Even if you don't agree that tax needs to increase on order to put many years of neglect this chopping and changing looks weak and worries the financial markets which prefer a steady hand on the tiller - bond rates go up and we all suffer. Pathetic.

Itv has some fantastic programming, great dramas, Mr Bates & the Post office, The Hack and world class news.

The BBC shouldn't have spliced those two bits of speech together but the thrust of the Panorama programme was correct and the BBC is a light shining on the hill in the darkness. Occasionally that light flickers. We all make mistakes and any organization that employs thousands of people will sometimes do stupid things but that is life.

My life would be a lot worse without the BBC and ITV. BBC radio alone is worth the licence fee. So much information and entertainment. And I say this as someone who worked for ITV for 30 years.
