what you are looking at is the economic consequence of trying to thwart nature by intervening without a suitable treatment in place to provide "Immunity" or Help in the at risk group apart from basics ie Oxygen etc ... people are still dying

so what ever we do ........ it only affects "time" at the moment until immunity is reached naturally

testing does not solve the ongoing transmission it only slows it down ... as soon as you stop testing and isolating the decease will reoccur in a second wave .... the population does not have immunity against the virus that is why its now a pandemic ... testing will not cure you !!!

Government policy is exactly what we have been doing for a 100 years ...

i have already said the 20% need isolating .. but its tough.

this is not going to stop until immunity exists ........ in 3 months or so its gone from 1 to over 150,000 infected across the globe its not isolated and if you try to thwart it by that method every country would have to follow the Italian model .. really ? so this lock down will keep repeating .. as reinfection of areas occur
lives are being lost today .... and this will continue, the difference is time .. folks that escape in a lock down situation will get confident after .. they might be out of a job ...but they are open for the second wave of the pandemic because they don't have that herd immunity barrier

I would remind you that you are not in business ..... try and consider the responsibility of those that are

if the profits of the country are wiped out this year tax will not be paid Next year ... government cash flow is based on last years tax take
Even VAT is paid in arrears .... government has not yet even seen the cost effects of the virus ..

You cannot stop the virus its now appearing in Morocco and Africa so even if you do achieve complete isolation of the country you will have to maintain that for years .......... who is Going to pay for this ? Borrowing ... from who ? because until you have a vaccine ... if you break your isolated society ... you will have it return as soon as the airports reopen ..

so talk about common sense .. well think a little longer than a week but months and possibly a year .....china still has fresh cases appearing even after a complete lock down of that area.

and think about how your measures are not going to stop millions been thrown out of work .. because that is what shutting down means ... BA for sure is about to sack the bulk of its work force or go bust ..

Flu still kills 1000's per year even with vaccination ... a little perspective ... we don't test for flu ..

The UK government has banned the parallel export and “hoarding” of three drugs being used to treat coronavirus patients in China in anticipation of shortages in Britain following the Covid-19 pandemic.

The export of the US-based AbbVie’s Kaletra / Aluvia, a combination lopinavir and ritonavir, the generic drug chloroquine phosphate and the generic drug hydroxychloroquine is being restricted to meet the needs of UK patients, the government said.

Hydroxychloroquine was placed on the restricted list from 14 March and Kaletra and chloroquine phosphate were added on 26 February.

If the Government can isolate the 20% ie anyone over the age of 60 .. then allow a pandemic to sweep the country so that the 80% have been exposed to the virus this creates the buffer to stop transmission in any future wave Ie, 80% is equivalent to heard immunity or a vaccine . That actually is the ideal scenario which keeps the ICU beds available for the .2% of the 80% who might develop complications.

The issue is isolating the 20% for 6 months

patients leaving the ship tested negative one day .. flew to the UK then tested positive ... exactly how many tests again ?

I already know that 20% will have issues and 4% will have severe issue ... the test only needs now to confirm in the 20% so they can look at the 4% and concentrate
