Yes a little strange, they pushed Santos for a quick decision, given they have generally, had a very cordial relationship with each other for a few years, since Conoco Phillips departed as main operator (for Santos) and remained Bayu-Darwin production pipeline owner/operator.

Santos like ENI have several onshore TL , Social programs they fund.

As you say MD, perhaps needed the decision made, so they can use the in place agreement , as part of another time sensitive announcement, or we are all just clutching as more straws 🤔😂
