Chuditch Environmental Baseline Survey

Sunda Energy Plc (AIM: SNDA), the AIM-quoted exploration and appraisal company focused on gas assets in Southeast Asia, is pleased to announce that an environmental baseline survey has commenced in preparation for the drilling of the planned Chuditch-2 appraisal well, which is scheduled to be drilled in Q2 2025.

The survey vessel "Outer Limit" is now on location and has today commenced studies, consisting of extensive sampling of the marine environment. The survey is expected to be completed within 5 days and the results and analysis from the survey will be incorporated into the Environmental Impact Statement, which is currently under preparation as part of the approvals process for the drilling of the well.

MD it was also announced today the passing of the Gov accounts for 2023, yet another in a long line , of the budget was set, the budget was cut and in this case only 74% of the reduced budget allocated funds spent....... In Brief

Despite recognising a potential financial disaster, Timor-Leste's government passed a 2025 budget that accelerates the country’s rush towards a fiscal cliff instead of mitigating it. The economy relies heavily on an unsustainable withdrawal rate from the Petroleum Fund which is on track for depletion. Economic salvation hangs on the development of the Greater Sunrise natural gas field, yet the project remains stagnant through 2024 amid disputes over processing location and other concerns including high rates of absolute poverty and food insecurity.

Greater Sunrise and Timor-Leste’s ASEAN aspirations

Similarly , if Sunrise again stalled, we could go ahead with MOU independently, or revert to FPSO plan and ship up to Natarbora Imports Terminal (or Metinaro as was) As said when they started talking about Natarbora over Beaco, all good for us, almost straight North for pipe or shipping.

It was a much bigger sail to Metinaro (North Coast near Dili) if that had gone ahead.
