Good evening all, I was running late this morning and now running late this evening, but I have a good excuse, hic ...
My dear wife had originally planned a virtual on-line wine tasting to be run by a John Lewis sommelier at £35 per head over a zoom call for an end of year thing for the bank she workes for, the idea being they send out a selection of wines and you test them whilst the sommelier talks about them, I advised her against using JL as they had let me down recently and were getting more bad reviews by the hour!
No surprise by me when John Lewis phoned to cancel saying they had run out of wine tasting kits after taking the money so to plan 'B'!
Plan B was a virtual Gin tasting secession run by the Stirling Gin Distillery, this was booked and only £30 per head including 4 different 50cc bottles of Gin, dried orange slices, and a miniature bottle of Sterling Gin hand sanitizer.
As I quite like Gin, I thought I would put on my Santa hat and join in the online festivities... I mean, why not this was taking place only feet away in the lounge where Becky was set up to work from home.
I squeezed next to Becky and managed to fit into frame on the screen, The virtual experience was about to start and Cameron from Sterling Gin said take the small green toped bottle and empty it into your glass, so we all take our Gin miniatures and start to pour the Gin which was nettle flavored into our glasses, Cameron suddenly shouted stop out to one of the ladies taking part......she was pouring the small bottle of hand sanitizer into her glass as it too had a green top! haha.
The rest of the event went rather more smoothly .... I got to taste all 4 and finish them off for Becky, who was a little reserved with being in front of the ten participants and her newish boss.
Her newish boss had to withdraw early as it coincided with something else that had cropped up!
As he left and said his goodbyes, I thought I would be nice and fueled with my Gin shouted out my goodbye back to him!
I got a funny look from Becky and a poke in the ribs, apparently I had said goodbye to him by calling him by his surname of Howard, which I thought was his first name as it was in that order on the screen, oops!
Oh well, the Gins were very nice :-)
