Do ARB bet against Bitcoin? Their price over the last few months indicates it. Far easier & more profitable to have bought the 'coin'.

(2) Borrowing at cheap rates is paid for by Joe Public ie:- Savings are constantly devaluing to subsidise big business and property prices have are based on borrowing rates, NOT on the actual value.
Perhaps the crime is in allowing this to happen, a return to viable interest rates would now see many bankrupt. Our government doesn't have the balls for that!

I'm sure most will agree that averaging down by giving discounted shares to wealthy mates should be illegal. It is no more than theft. The discount probably 'earned' by a few free lunches, again paid by us.

A few years ago I was in a similar position with Aberforth, I cashed enough for CG limits and rolled the remainder. Those remaining shares fell instantly to ~20% discount and are still ~-15%. The price of the new shares was conveniently high at rollover. The loss could be more than you CG bill.

The NAV of Unicorn will fluctuate also, if it is used for valuation then those accepting the 'rollover' may find the their new shares at an immediate discount. Taking cash and buy in later may be the preferred option.
I note some selling now as the discount has narrowed, a smaller discount could more easily be lost in a market slump.
Timing should be the date in the original prospectus, their valuation date though is something else.

Like many, I bought for the dividend but while this industry grows, cash calls will continue therefore don't expect this sector to pay your bills. My mistake thinking it would, the question is where next? Perhaps an oil boom, a half-decent war could create demand.

If you believe RPI or CPI are a measure of inflation then somebody else is paying your bills. Cooking those books began with Gordon Brown and was honed to perfection by future governments. Link your income to that and you will die a pauper. All in this sector seem to have cash calls larger than dividends and while there remains competition for new assets, their demands will continue.

Becoming a regular thing with these Trusts: give ~7% yield then ask for ~20% in a cash call. Share price continues to drop as we realise its a no-win situation.

Agreed bluechip, no sooner had I signed up to PB than they changed to app only. I not only don't have a mobile, I have no use for one and for me paying a little more for shares is preferable to buying an unwanted phone.

Suggestion, why not cut out the farce of paying dividends while reducing capital by just taking an annual levy from shareholders? The admin saving could be huge and that saving could be used for increased 'bonus?' payments.

This has become rife in renewables, static dividends & depreciating capital and set to continue for as long as we go more 'green'.

The yield on many renewables is worthless due to regular cash calls. Dividend of ~6% while cheap share issues knock 10% off the share price, all to often this is a placing where your share is devalued to pay somebody else.
The inflation-proof dividend is also a farce, RPI being now a joke.
