They pay to short them. If you don’t like the game, don’t play it. No one is forcing you. Maybe stop bottom feeding. Looking at the companies you have commented on, they are all dogsh*t. You don’t need to worry about shorters if you invest in decent companies. If you want to take a flier on t*rds, I’m afraid shorts are part of it.

What’s corrupt? Someone borrowing shares and paying for the privilege to bet against a company? If you’re long and the company is good, you have no worries. If you’re long and the company is rubbish, you probably do! That’s your fault for buying a rubbish company! Stop blaming others for your own shortcomings! As I say, I don’t short, but I don’t blame others if trades don’t go my way. Man up!

Get real. I don’t short, and won’t short - but it’s part of the market. I only invest in companies I believe have growth prospects. Simple. If others want to bet against that, that’s their business. Only day traders need fear shorters. I’d rather ban them than shorters.

My local dealer has had some gold models ready to roll for some time - including a gold Daytona. Stainless steel ones still like gold dust new though.

Pre Covid they could buy whatever they wanted whenever they wanted, with a few exceptions. It’s only the bubble that has changed that. Either way, combine that with the tax regime as it is and the UK side of things isn’t going to improve quickly. Hopefully they make hay in other markets, but the UK position must be unbelievably frustrating.

Toffers - you seem to have some kind of hero worship thing going on. Take a step back. The business has taken on too many liabilities and it’s stock is not selling. Simple. There’s an obvious way out here. The one that is often used by over extended retailers to wipe out the folks you are encouraging here.

Feared that. So loads of potential super wealthy punters but can only sell them the stuff no one else wants. I guess no different to elsewhere, but again shows how beholden this company is to its suppliers, and one in particular.

I’m in central London for a few days this week and have been walking past a number of WOSG shops regularly whilst here. One thing that jumped to mind is, do they hold Rolex stock for tourists to walk out with? I appreciate most high net worth shopping tourists won’t shop in London anymore due to the tax position, but does anyone know whether they are just able to walk in and buy the stuff that wouldn’t be available to most folk without sitting on a waiting list for months?

No, Purestrings isn’t me Toffers. Could it be possible two separate people have walked along one of the highest footfall retail streets in the world in the past few days and observed the same thing?! Ramping idiot!

The rest of Oxford Street is heaving, and the Superdry store is in a prime position next to Selfridges. The trouble is no one is going to it! It must be costing an absolute fortune. All this does is support what I’ve seen at other stores. Ignore what you see with your own eyes at your peril. Shame, as I thought it’s clothes were decent quality, but if peeps don’t want them, that’s the way it is. I’m out. Good luck all.

I’ve been staying in a hotel off Oxford Street, about 60 seconds from Superdry’s flagship store this weekend. Piled high with stock, but few customers from what I’ve seen - and unfortunately reflective of what I’ve seen in my local stores also. I can’t see this being turned around in its current shape. The overheads must be colossal and simply appears to have lost its mojo. Think there is going to be some major pain here. I’d taken a punt, but I’m going to get out of this.

Surprised this hasn’t gone higher today. I’m tempted to top up but already have too many. Genuinely think this is a really good opportunity for folks though. This company has been overlooked for years, and is way too cheap.

Hmmm, I've got both SMDS and Mondi. Luckily (I hope) a lot deeper in on the former. Fingers crossed for a massive bid for SMDS which is also considered to be highly beneficial to Mondi long term!

That’s probably right JG68. The only alternative would be if multiple bidders are circling now, and I doubt that in all reality when the company is clearly in such bad shape. The only guaranteed way to get rid of all the shop lease liabilities they don’t want is to go down an insolvency route. If a miracle happens that’ll be great, but seems highly unlikely to me. That’s why I bought a small tranche. Massive return if something unexpected happens, and not the end of the day if it goes pop.
