To take advantage of ex dividend date, Would it be worth investing say €20k in shares now at approx €10per share .That's 2000 shares × .60 dividend =€1200. Deduct approx 2% for fees and stampduty €240 leaves €960.
Then pay 33% capital gains leaves €640 return. Plus risk of sp dropping. Am I missing anything?
I'm in same position as you, only consolation will be a good dividend hopefully announced with results at end of Feb. I've averaged over the years to €7.40 and was looking forward to selling above €10. Missed my chance as waiting for the dividend I considered buying more when SP dropped below €8 recently as I expect div to be good. Hope they don't spend too much on buybacks at expense of dividend.
Any estimates as to what the next dividend will be , it was 21c last year with €1b profit.. Consideringthis if this is a good time to buy more while price is low. At todays price what would be the percentage return at estimated dividend? Wary of having too many eggs in one basket. Will dividend be announced with results on Feb 26th?
Thanks to John and Fellow Travellers for getting this site back on track.
While difficult to understand the recent big drop in SP despite the good results, I still feel optimistic that the results will force the price back up to recent high of €10 plus. I was tempted then to sell and take a decent profit and buy back when SP went south but I stayed for the dividend. With hindsight, sorry I didn't now. Raider did sell, I wonder will he take advantage of the drop now and buy back in. I appreciate all the good info being posted now
"Experts" recently have been predictING SP of €13 plus and €2b PBT for 2023. Actual SP now 8.53. Can anyone explain what's happening ( maybe JH) ? Now I'm depending/ hoping for a much increased dividend, not share buy backs which don't seem to have helped SP. I was sitting pretty with this share but it's slowly retreating to my breakeven price of around 7.40. Predictions for dividend please?
Next interim results due on 26 0October. Before that we will have the Budget.
Issues to consider;
Half year profits hit €1 billion
Recent rise in interest rate by ECB (presumably further increasing profits )
Forthcoming irish budget
Increase in bank levy (to satisfy popular demand)
Mortgage defaults increase
Effects of Ukraine war
Chinese economic problems
Any forecasts re Share price, profitability, levy, dividend etc.?
Board gone very quiet recently.
