Morning Baton - yeah, although we had the grant for covid research, that would just be one of the many possible treatments targetted by 1801. So while our main aim for now is psoriasis, it may be prudent for the govt. to direct the MHRA to prioritise CTA reviews where covid gets a mention.

However please remember to leave common sense at the door when entering any government area.

Might be a long shot but just wondering if we could somehow use the COVID infections/pneumonia angle with the MHRA to gee them up a bit. The AGILE approach might have taken a backseat for now but if China's relaxed travel controls lead to another wave then perhaps the CTA could be rubber stamped without need for the GLP review since the lab was licensed at the time they carried out the work for us. Needs must etc.

So unless the CPF does a deal with Sierra to take ownership of the patents, that would mean a pharma wanting to buy 737 would also need to negotiate a deal with Sierra if their plans were to use 737 in combo with any of the compounds listed within the patents.

If Sierra refused then that would prevent 737 being used in combo and therefore torpedo a sale.

I suppose CPF could agree with Sierra that CPF sells 737 to the highest bidder along with the combo patents in return for Sierra getting a percentage of the sale.

Any thoughts?

Hi SOG, I think we're all hoping for a P3 trial next as that would mean the value of 737 really starts to increase dramatically.

The return appears to be simply a case of they didn't progress it per the terms of the license therefore they were in default and the penalty was to hand it back. Disappointing in many ways as they chose to concentrate on momo instead. Despite the setback, it may play into our hands via a better deal.

Thanks Horse, there were something like 310 patients between the two UK trials so hopefully there will be enough data to display positive results leading to a P3 trial.

Sierra completed two P1/2 trials here in the UK and if the results proved compelling enough, would that suggest the next step is a P3 trial or just further P2 trials?

Morning SOG - as far as I can tell these are the two Sierra combo patents that will be handed over in January. I'm no patent lawyer but they do appear to encompass a large number of cancers and inhibitors (in addition to 737).

I haven't looked to see if other pharmas have anything remotely similar but these patents must have a reasonably significant monetary value. Surely with the work carried out globally by researchers, any new on-license will be substantially greater than the initial ProNai deal. I just hope we get an upfront milestone payment to accelerate the 1801/2 programmes.

Sorry, SOG - ignore my last post, the 'negotiation' that I referred to was if we wanted to do something with 737 that did not include the CPF. Parker confirmed all patents taken out would be handed over to us.

Hi SOG - didn't Tim or John suggest during the AGM that there may be some degree of negotiation tied to any patent handover? Whatever happens, probably just a few weeks away from finding out.

Just had a thought, Blue. What would stop the BoD issuing new shares to current shareholders based on their holding at a given date? It wouldn't have to be a huge number, say, 1 share per 200 held, but it would be welcomed by many. This way whatever money 737 might bring us wouldn't be diverted away from advancing our compounds.

True, but I guess the BoD's focus is getting the pipeline as advanced as possible. A few posters have criticised progress as being on the pedestrian side of things so I'd imagine we'll just have to sit tight and see if 737 is on-licensed or bought outright and what the resulting funds look like.

Hi C79 - if we were to get a healthy upfront payment in the near future from a 737 deal, I wonder if the BoD would consider diverting some of the funds towards the FLT3+Aurora project. Obviously our main priorities are with 1801/2 but depending on what 737 deal could be struck (bidding war!!) and what level of cash we have, it would be nice to be in a position to maximise our pipeline for any future takeover bid.
