Cases are rising at an exponential rate .. unfortunately it is only a matter of time that the Delta variant will be on the shores of Europe where they are still catching up on vaccinations and a further wave restricting travel will be imposed .. a real shame tbh as I live for my holidays but we must all face reality.
GLA whatever your position.
Its the captain again, all flights to Austria from the UK have been cancelled, flights to Germany will require quarantine and flights to Spain cancelled for June. Please contact customer service for a refund.

Potential regional lockdowns .. sounding a bit familiar? ..

Fira2011.
Absolutely - border control needs to be tightened .. new variants stopped from being imported - if this means a short period of no foreign holidays - so be it!! surely it's better than another lockdown!!
My staycation in Scotland is booked for August :) - here's hoping that still happens.

@Fira2011 .. watched question time too last night - the vaccine minister got slated over the amber list countries. As the Labour minister suggested, Amber should be moved to Red causing less confusion.
The message was very clear - pause international travel, have a staycation and boost the UK economy (for now!).
.. someone's ringing that bell (LOL) ..

..so, he mentioned the governments messaging as being 'crystal clear' - holidays to amber are NOT permitted or face a £10k ban.
Seems like half of England is now being surge tested for the Indian variant .. with a rise of 28% in cases in 2 days.
His advice tonight was visit a green listed country should you fancy a trip abroad or enjoy a great staycation - same message as Martin Lewis on his show last night.

Couldn't agree more - over inflated SP when planes have been grounded for months, ongoing uncertainty on being able to travel - just ridiculous! RYA published their dreadful results earlier this week and the SP has tumbled ..
Matt Han**** will lead a Downing Street press conference later amid calls for clarity on foreign travel advice .. i'm assuming this is to re-iterate not to travel to amber listed countries for leisure purposes .. it will be interesting along with Easyjets' results tomorrow.
Further drop IMO - GLA
GLA
The worrying factor is the transmittablity - Han****s used the expression yesterday that it could spread like 'wildfire'
Also, Boris warned in Fridays press conference that UK's 'green list' for quarantine-free travel won't expand 'very rapidly' .. lots of uncertainity over the next few weeks with a turbulent SP.
GLA
.. France, Spain and Greece unlikely to feature on Government's next travel green list - if so, a major blow to the likes of Easyjet, Ryanair etc ..

.. we need to be 'cautious' and 'very, very tough' ..
Watch todays VT -

Germany has now extended lockdown until June as it fails to push down cases
What's happening in India and other parts of the world will knock customer confidence - certainly until vaccine rollout excels and case numbers reduce globally - all IMO.
Be interesting to see what the interim results in a few weeks show ...
Has anyone done the maths as to how many more months Easyjet can survive with their current cash reserves?
.. I see Emirates may need to raise more cash this year, if demand for air travel does not pick up soon, I guess many other airlines will be following suit ..
