I don't claim to understand or know I'm just telling you what generally happens to UK shares when America does poorly from my limited observations. You can watch sometimes a nice few percent disappear on a share just because America goes down and sit and try and fathom all day why with no success. Manipulation loss of confidence computers automatically re rating everything with algorithms who knows.

Normally if America opens down or lower than futures everything in the UK gets dragged down and you can look at share charts around 2:30 and see them all nosedive if they were ticking along nicely until then.

USA opens 2:30pm except when clocks change for about a week.

I've already taken my socks FF so they don't get blown off.

Yes once it gets somewhere significantly above 20p, so say 20.6p I think it will take off. At the moment it is a nice round number for people to be selling at.

I love the end of that article - and it is only from yesterday - "Shares in Greatland were little changed at 17.25p." !!! Several year's worth of interest from a savings account in one day due to SP moving! Can't beat that.

Ah, gotcha. It is diverting me to the UK site not the US one. Glad that is all sorted. Yes then it would be a lot more.

I'm sorry but where are you getting the figure of £30 m from when the top holding only has a value of $25m? That would be 10% of the entire net assets of the fund!!! Net Assets$368.9M

I don't see that. Look at hochschild mining, they are on there with market cap of 1.19 billion has a value in the fund of 2.3 millon. So if we slot in at say around £2million pounds that is 10 million shares at GGP share price, isn't it?!

Don't most shares go into auction around mid-day? You sometimes get prices jumping all around the place don't you?

Yeah I was wondering that too. If they say had to have a million quid worth, that is only like 5 million shares. Even the top holding of $25m dollars would equate to about 100 million shares at ggp prices.

I believe so. You are meant to be keeping a record of what you bought sold every year and then the end figure of profit or loss at the end and submitting it to the tax man if it is over what £12.3k or whatever it is. Even if you make a loss report it as you can use that to reduce a capital gain the next year. From what I understand from my reading.

Yes I'm not saying it is an ideal solution or one for everyone but it is a solution rather than just putting it in a shares account and getting taxed on gains, if you know what you're doing.

"You can take your money out of an Individual Savings Account (ISA) at any time, without losing any tax benefits. " however, if it is in a savings account then it would be taxed on interest earned over £1000 I suppose.

Floater, there is another option. Spread betting account as that is tax free and just treat it as you are buying shares normally without using all the fancy stuff.

Well yesterday when america opened this sp rocketed as it is rumoured a large fund are buying a large number of shares.

Although some like mine only do it based on the original value of the shares, it ignores that you have paid out fees and stamp duty. So sometimes my thing tells me I've made a few percent yet the value is still actually less than I paid in total! But I digress.
