Hi guys, I’ve had a look over the Verizon Up gig for Maroon and can’t really spot anything. There was also a concert produced for the Ambassadors which was two months later. I managed to get a swatch of the camera and can confirm it is very like Melody’s camera from another 2018 gig. Although there seems to be 2 flashing LED in the Verizon setup. So it looks very, very similar to their 2018 rig but inconclusive for me. One thing I did spot which might be why these didn’t appear in the Oculus Venues could be the fact that the gigs aren’t live. On reading the Oculus Venues app it does state LIVE so perhaps we could still be in their with Facebook and the possibility of appearing in Venues. Hope this helps.. but are only observations...
Hi kingsofkeighley, what I get when I read the licences we only hold and distribute the ones that we film / organise. I can’t see anything exclusive in them. Yes, we need to get a move on. Someone pointed out that the Supersphere gig with Whiz wasn’t the best (so that’s good) the only problem is they shouldn’t be in there in the first place. Yes they’ve had many server issues before for previous gigs and this should be well sorted by now. Especially when it’s a pre recorded event and not a live event. Can you imagine this happening on a paid for live event... I’m starting to wonder if Facebook are now stepping in our toes because of the slow progression.
Sorry about that boss. I promise I'll get that done for you today. ;-)
100% mel5, the artists hold the key! We just need the right lock that fits. People always love FREE stuff... but free stuff isn't what will make you money. I'm sure once the artists start getting paid for LIVE events it will be a completely different story. They will promote the life out of it, especially if this is going to be the new norm for the foreseeable. I'm sure the exposure will up a gear or two when the artists are getting money to put food on the table and a Lamborghini in the garage.
That's funny I see something completely different to you guys. There are no tests here. I work in digital marketing industry. Half of this campaign has worked and half hasn't. What we see here is a great response to FREE material being posted by an artist and as always a competition or free giveaway is the best source for user interaction. You need to remember when these gigs were first released, they were ALL posted by the artists...
Now your talking A1EX. This is what happens when it’s done right. Great wee competition to win an Oculus Quest song with it.... *boom someone knows what they are doing. The only problem is it seems to be Fallout Boys idea... great execution and fantastic pickup and interaction. Fingers crossed this also happens with Panic! At The Disco.... great also to get recognition with FIFA and tagging people as well. Let the organic growth commence....
Yeah, it’s a bit of a funny one. You would have thought if we were in bed with Mark we would have been promoted in some form via Facebook or on the Oculus VR Devices. Interesting it was in Oculus Rooms... perhaps Mark got a bit miffed that not much really materialised in the way of live events. I’m trying to think back if wireless was advertised through them? Can anyone remember?
Hi The.Italian. It wasn't in Venues, the only one in Venues was Whiz's homes concert with Facebook & the other VR company.
Hi 50rrell. Their cameras are getting smaller all the times as the tech progresses (they do use there own built cameras). Don't hold me to this one but I would imagine that the live cameras might be slightly different from the cameras that pre-record an event.
Hi countryinvest... Oculus Rooms was decommissioned in October last year. This isn't available on the newer Oculus Quest. I take it you must be using an older Oculus Go device? cheers
That's great to hear 5Orrell. Was going to stay up but have a busy day today. I'll try see if I can watch a recording of the live event later. Great news though...
Live Nation Entertainment Inc. is giving investors a glimpse into the future with sales of tickets to see country-rock singer Travis McCready in what would be the industry’s first socially distanced concert.
Sales of passes to see McCready, frontman for the band Bishop Gunn, play an acoustic set in Fort Smith, Arkansas, on May 15 suggest a pathway for the return of live events. According to analysts at William Blair, Live Nation is implementing a number of guidelines to comply with local restrictions including limiting the number of available seats so fans remain at least six feet apart during the show.
For Live Nation, the move comes at a critical time with the shares down 49% since hitting an all-time high in February. The world’s largest concert organizer had been experiencing one of the industry’s best years before the Covid-19 pandemic shuttered events globally.
At the McCready show, analyst Ryan Sundby said “fan pods” will consist of anywhere between two and 12 seats, cutting the allowed attendance down to 229 fans, or 20% of normal capacity. Attendees will need to wear masks and have their temperature checked at entry points. Fog sprayers will be used to sanitize the venue, bathrooms will be limited to ten people at a time, and soap and paper towel dispensers will be touchless. As for the concession stand, food and beverages will be prepackaged or have lids, Live Nation-owned Ticketmaster said on its website.
While it’s unclear when concert touring may resume on a larger scale, Sundby said in a research note that these protocols shed some light about the how industry may be able to satisfy health authorities. McCready’s show is “a positive step, even if just a baby one, toward moving more shows back onto the calendar in 2020,” wrote Sundby, reiterating his outperform rating on the stock.
Live Nation is scheduled to report its quarterly financial results after market close on Thursday.
They are making huge rookie marketing errors... I don't know if this is internal or if it's external but someone needs to stand up. The whole thing from start to finish with the one days notice to the mediocre social media posts that aren't even touching the sides. The user engagement with them is totally embarrassing. Lets get the 16 year old girl that lives next door to me to do the next one. I'm pretty sure she can't do any worse. No push from the artists.. nothing, zip, zilch, nada. I've had further reach washing the car.
From today they have finally put the word 'free' in the promos that I've talking about, it's not rocket science. Fundamental marketing errors. Just as people have said the directors cut I've being banging the drum about steals the show on any of the performances so it's good to hear people seeing it. This is why they need to get the finger out and make the directors cut live for the full catalogue. It's crazy not having for each concert.
I think it's totally apparent that the catalogue is completely 2nd base for them. Either that or someone needs to take a river dance with concrete boots on. All that experience / massive talent and missing a huge trick to pickup users in boat loads. To me it was just a signup procedure to get people on the radar with a live event coming real soon. The live event will be all about the production. Lets not kid ourselves it would've been all about the festival coverage this year which has pretty much gone unless they do a fully virtual one (which I doubt as the costs would outweigh the demand). What do the presenting staff do in the mean time for the rest of this year? This week certainly wasn't a drill to test the systems. They have had far larger things already which blows showing a show out the water.
Sometimes I keep saying to myself 'surely this can't be it, no way'. Then wondering again 'is it? Surely not'...
We all know it's not, thats why we're here... They will be HUGE. You just don't get some of the big hitters they've got onboard to release a catalogue of prerecorded shows and a few live events. One thing is for sure... they better start acting like their the next biggest thing in their marketing attempts.
This has to be one of the only shares I've got that sucks you in mentally, physically & emotionally. Why the hell is that?? Get the finger out Melody... we're growing older by the minute here....
I’ve been running a USA and UK VPN to double check...
There is an advert there but they must not even touching the sides. Plus the one being displayed is very very poor not even mentioning free in the text as per one of my earlier posts..

Is it just me? I’ve seen no paid for advertising at all promoting the free shows. What’s the point in a new user pickup promotion if new users don’t know about it! I’ve been on Facebook artists pages, MelodyVR website, competitors and countless other connected website and haven’t been targeted/re-targeted once? You would have thought I’d be getting the life pestered out me. Why is the Khalid gig that’s happening a.m. tomorrow not at the top of their Facebook page! They should have setup Facebook events so it’s right in your face. Just like the artists have... a bit stumped on what’s happening. For me it’s a case of picking up as many users as you can this week then smash the ball out the park with a live event once you’ve got users to promote to.
Last years Wireless was spot on. By re-run I was referring to the same content. It would more interesting to have a full NEW virtual day / weekend.
In fact, I take that back..... a free rerun of last years has the potential to pick up lots of users!...
Nice find. At least we know that has to have something to do with us!!! It will be interesting to see what it is. Hopefully not a rerun of last year. Hopefully very positive news...
Yeah drinky01.. the email is spot on and looks good... :-) we are existing clients... It needs to be mega clear to people that don't know us that aren't on the current email list. We want to pick up as much new users as we can.
OK, I'm feeling frustrated... but 'why' you say (no doubt called a deramper) when what is in the week ahead contains good things for MelodyVR. Sorry this is the marketeer coming out in me. The marketing team really frustrate me at times. If you look at the Khalid advert on MelodyVRs Facebook page (same model for all individual adverts) it says
'Khalid, like you've never seen him before. Experience all the energy and good vibes of his Free Spirit Tour, in 360 degrees.
Download the app on.melodyvr.com/App and join us on May 5.'
with the graphics saying 'Get On Stage'(slide one) 'with Khalid at the O2 arena'(slide two) 'Free For One Night Only' (slide three)'
You're like 4 seconds into the advert before you realise it's FREE and even then it's hidden in the same font size as the other text. This should be literally screaming at you that it's free.
On that border around the full advert it should be repeatably saying 'FREE EVENT' to in-force and it should be one of the first things mentioned in the advert text.
They're execution of things is sometimes a bit last minute and not thought through to take full advantage of the situation.
Right I'm away to do some stress relief.
