TheBadBat, there has been many pandemics in the history of the world. You do know that we aren't the only generation, right? Things won't go back to normal until a vaccine can be fully implemented. The social distancing measures will still be in place for many, many months. This will include large scale gatherings. The last thing a country wants to do is invite another wave of Covid19 putting them back to square one. The government were trying to introduce some sort of Covid-19 passport to say if you've had the disease or not but it fell on its feet... but something like this could potentially be the only way things could go back to semi-normal. Either that or an instant test were you get tested before entering large scale events. The problem EVRH has right now is that it could potentially be impossible for them to run a gig without the current social distancing measures taking place as big name artist normally come with an full entourage. Although I'm sure where there's a will there's a way. I'm sure the governments will be working on getting sporting events & entertainment events running as quickly as they can but this ain't going to happen until a vaccine has been implemented. In the coming months as they start to relax some social distancing measures is the perfect marketplace for small scale / closed off gigs (an possibly now). In my view Melody needs to sort out their social side of the App before they can upscale. As there will be people wanting to go to a concert and talk with their mates on the virtual app which currently can be done. You would have thought this would have been sorted before now?.
I think that everyone can agree that the main money wont come from the recorded content. Sure they will be slow burners constantly getting in money. They will probably make the most out of their Open/R's. With the subscription base that we know we are working towards, there is really no current 'value' for people taking a subscription with a mobile. TBH if I signed up for this I would be well ****ed ****ed off, especially when considering you can get Spotify / Amazon Prime etc.
What would be of Value is if you had to signup to the MelodyVR subscription platform to be able to see the live events (when they finally come). Obviously plus a virtual ticket price on top of this split between them and the artist/promoter. The big thing here will be the live production on-top of the jump spots (Editors Cut). This could be why their up there with the big boys. You have to be subscribed to see a live event. Obviously this is just ones mans take on things.
They are currently just treading water with their content releasing. Having practically one release in a month (I know they have got out 2 with the skin of their teeth) is nowhere near good enough when they are saying the demand is currently high for the product. The company is so slow to move its like watching a sloth going round to his mums house for dinner when she stays 1 mile up the road. EVERY business needs to adapt in a pandemic so saying they won't be effected is just plain crazy. It wont surprise me if some staff will be furloughed and lets face it the festival work ain't going to go ahead anytime soon. A massive loss for them. Theres will also be big losers and big winners in situations like this. One thing is for sure... the way out of the Pandemic has been virtually made for this company.
I completely understand everyones frustrations. We have a right to be frustrated. Most companies in the work deserve criticism and not all will make good moves at times. So just being 100% positive is just annoying as being 100% negative...
Yep Puddin1006, they should be currently smashing the hell our of their social channels and getting the artists to do the same.
Petebo, in business sometimes timing is critical. There is a business sweet spot occurring right now and the more the show goes on without showing your hand the less chance you've got of picking up users. I totally agree the world isn't going back to how it was and Melody can / will play a bit part in that, but with Apple now on the horizon they seriously need to watch and make sure the next move gains the masses. With some countries already talking about relaxing lockdowns and letting certain sectors go back to work you might miss out on some critical mass. For EVRH to release an RNS like they have mentioning things like 'coming weeks' and in around 4 days we are a month down can't be good. They run the risk of losing out to free gigs that the artists can put on without the help of Melody. They need to stamp an industry 'statement' and stamp it quick....
This is a direct threat with colossal backing. Apple will be releasing their AR device at some point over the next few years. Hence the reason for the purchase. They want to hit the road running as they always do. AR will never give you the experience of full VR unless the technology massively catches up. I've said before that at some point these two technologies will combine to create a new viewing medium which will be second to none.
Anyway sorry for the tangent! Back to business. We all know that at some point this will be subscription based but they need to address current underlying issues. Their social media presence and 'engagement' has been pitiful. They thought that the big names with massive followers would do the talking. In reality, the views are incredibly low (some next to nothing) and within a week these are almost forgotten about unless they are pinned (which they aren't). Even some of the tweets that have been released have no audio. Is this not what your about Melody! Saying you've had great sales increases then nothing for 5 days. Having gigs on your platform without the 'directors cut' is crazy. They have the production staff and some probably currently twiddling their thumbs. Some of the camera angles you need to be an eagle to watch. My necks sore from watching Bebe Rexhas concert AGAIN because I've went as far as I can go with purchasing! It's great having the cameras but the music stopping when changing your view is annoying! Then when you get a blast from a smoke machine it's like watching Stars in Your Eyes. Tonight Matthew, I'm completely blind. Having a directors cut for each gig would be so much better plus all the nuts and bolts are there. It's the same for Imagine Dragons when they change stage and many other gigs. I could go on all night at basic things to add to the UX that will help with customer retention.
Am I still invested YES
Is it a large amount YES
Do I believe in the product YES
Have I any intention of leaving the board NO
It's perfectly fine to be frustrated by the boards lack of movement and communication. After all, we will all be happy when the company announce something and the share price goes in the right direction.
I fear from the attack dogs and the downers after being so truthful! ;-)
What gets me!
Millettini... I can't disagree with your comments. Same for most on the board. There seems to be some sort of grouping happening with people that can't see MelodyVR doing anything wrong and people that are invested and are just answering / asking questions. Come on... telling people to sell their shares and leave the BB Petebo. What age actually area you?
I bet your bottom dollar there are hundred of 'readers' here that just can't be bothered to put any input into the board for fear of being ridiculed or they just can be bothered with the hassle. If you're out there.... a big hello from me... sometimes even I've got to break my silence.
It's all fine and dandy having the largest contracts in place with some of the industries largest labels. In reality (not virtual) this means absolutely diddly-squat without paying users. You know the guys that actually pay for the content.... E.g. Us. We are all here because we believe in the idea and music is one of the world most powerful tools, but some of the execution here is completely amateur. Yes, I'm allowed to berate a stock I'm heavily invested in if I see things I don't like and as are you. This is called constructive criticism. Patebo, perhaps you should try this sometime? It might even make you a better person without trying to drag people through the gutter for every single negative comment or something that goes against your train of thought.
The current chain of events will set MelodyVR back big time if they can't capitalise in period of time by increasing your users and brand. We all know the track record of some of the RNS's so some people have a right to be sceptical about the recent update. Before we know it a full month might go by without hearing anything. Although this could quickly change if something big is in the planning, hence my last 'fingers crossed' post. I would imagine they would have been all geared up for most of the festivals / live events which will now pass with some probably not even going ahead this year at all. Theres no hiding away from it that this is a massive set back. Then when things are getting better it will be impossible for Melody's team to be everywhere + Im pretty sure there will still be a big period with social distancing measures in place for many months. We all know by the staff that MelodyVR are aiming themselves up more of a live production company rather than a sit and see. As they say in their recent RNS they have saw a 56% increase in average sales. 56% of what exactly?. A platform that are currently struggling to pick up users because they've only had one home live event, a festival that won't be everyones bag (and was released at ridiculously short notice). Oh and lets not forget the big American launch which was plagued with massive technical issues.
A few people have mentioned Live Nation, I know NextVR which is being acquired by Apple did hold the contract for that, I'm not sure if they still do.
You can only hope something is right on the horizon. If not, things are finished for them. With a tweet five days ago during a time they said they are having an increase for their services is unthinkable unless they're putting their efforts into something bigger. Now would be the perfect time to launch the subscription service while there is huge demand for their services. I know they mentioned about trying to give content away for free so perhaps giving you a months free subscription when you signup would satisfy this. You just keep hearing 'tick, tock, tick, tock' in your mind but it's being doing this since the underwhelming launch when the share price started to go south. If they can't capitalise on things over the next couple of weeks then there's going to be a lot of unhappy share holders. Now is the time to shine... don't xxck it up Melody!
Hi Petebo,
Placebo's been on the platform since 2018. They're just peddling their old stuff. We need more new content.... Ready and waiting with an open wallet.
Hi Italian, Kiss have been on it for a while. They're just regurgitating their old content. Lets all hope they have something big in the coming week. Why not release more content from different genres or we will see the same eat, sleep, rave, repeat pattern. I know they have made no secret about going after the American market. They seem to be loving they're country.. perhaps they're trying to satisfy customers they picked up when doing the GMA's. We need to see a live closed off convert where the artist is paying particular attention to the VR cameras. Lady Gaga would smash it.... I'm saying nothing until I see what unfolds this week. If nothing unfolds then the board and team need to have a complete rethink of how to capitalise on current events. I'm a paying customer waiting to buy live / recorded gigs but my browsing has went as far as I can... this isn't good for client retention...
I’ve been a keen investor for years
In the hope of buying a few beers
In my sights was a good AIM
With the probability of fame
But it seems to be currently quite lame
I keep holding and praying
One day this will be paying
Pulling my bows from my quiver
There’s people starting to shiver
All we can hope is this ones going to be a real giver
It’s not been a straight line
We need to give it more time
The technology isn’t there
But they don’t seem to care
Let’s all hope Melody doesn’t run out of air
In the board we must trust
In the hope we don’t go bust
Contract after contract
Pact after pact
It’s getting very close to being sacked
What needs to happen now?
Open the curtains and bow
We’re all here waiting
Some fighting, some debating
Some even contemplating
So lets hope this is the year
I can buy myself more beer
Perhaps get that fast car
And my wife a bigger bra
I’m just hoping & praying my money doesn’t char
So onwards and upwards
Lets bring out the news
Awaken on up
Awaken from your snooze
Because this is your time
We need to take a huge climb
100% Cunir... the massive revenue will come from the live events and it will be very exciting to see. I was referring to their main catalogue for their current bread and butter. They also need to nail the social aspect of the app to gain traction at the live gigs / recorded. Being able to talk with with friends while at a gig would be the icing on the cake. Again more bandwidth and tech but a great addition. They should be doing this now with their current catalogue to encourage more use and signups + testing out the tech. I've spoken with my friend several times about having a 'new music Friday' day every month where we both go to the same VR gig.!! Him in his house and me in mine.
You simply can't compare a company like Netflix to Melody. Melody currently have far more problems than Netflix would have ever have faced.
1) Netflix don't do live streaming they have VOD's.
2) Netflix already had content that didn't require them to produce. Mainly just streaming DVDs.
3) Netflix media will be HD or 4K far more bandwidth is required for 360VR.
4) Everyone and their gran has a TV / device to watch Netflix on.
5) Netflix picked up users ready for their service as DVDs became a thing of the past.
I'll stop it there. You are a 100% correct about flipping from one side to the other but in fairness I don't see one side and another on here. I see people just bigging the company up for everything (including their problems) and people saying it how it is. There's a difference and I see almost everyone on this BB wanting Melody to really make it where you don't. If you want to hear positive things constantly perhaps you need to go to some sort of Anthony Robbins convention rather than an open board BB where people will have differing views and if anyone says anything not positive it results into schoolboy chaos. In saying that you do have some good things to say as do many other people on the BB. For me, I'm heavily invested and I'm just trying to protect my investment and sound my views. I know what I'm talking about when it comes to business and tech thats why I sound so frustrated at some of the thing Melody do as they have a very experienced team. There is no blueprint for Melody and they are constantly changing direction to keep the ship a float, which must be a total nightmare for them. Yes, we will hear some amazing things and exciting news. Yes, I'm sure we will also hear many bad things along the trip but we are all hear for the same reason.
Music is one of the most powerful things to touch peoples lives. It can bring them joy, happiness and sadness. It can make people, countries and companies wealthy. It can be good. It can be bad. It can be individual. Music can divide people and bring people closer together. We all believe in the power as do the BODs and he team.
I can feel a Bill and Ted moment about to come on. Peace love respect.. viva la music.
Some of the larger companies in the world fold products every day. This include some of the massive giants like Google, Apple / FaceBook. Just because you have the staff, the backing, the contracts, doesn’t automatically put you in a position to succeed although it certainly helps.
I still do think they have a few massive things in the pipeline but if they aren’t released in 2020 then I really fear for the company and their current money loses. Sure they have big backing with deep pockets but they will still be under HUGE pressure from their investors and need to start generating either large amounts of users or somehow Money in the bank. I mean they are a VR production company.
It would be interesting to know who used the platform and who doesn’t on the board?
Some interesting comments. Lets put some of them to bed. Kings your comment on comparing Spotify to MelodyVR is like comparing apples with oranges. Spotify operated on a freemium model supplying the users with FREE access. This was to grow the number of users and keep the retention then turn the model into a money milking machine. Thats why most tech companies start with a free model so they can get the footfall. Spotify didn’t have a full video production team to splash out on. Making videos and editing them ain’t a cheap or quick thing to do. Neither is streaming them. Streaming music is super simple to achieve.
Getting Gore involved was one of their biggest and best ideas. I think this was more born out of frustration. Either that or a spark from a potential genius. This will be the biggest money maker while they still work out whats happening with the music VR world. The BIG problem is they are competing with almost a free online market with YouTube and in particular YouTube VR. Their biggest revenue this year will come from festivals and /or their 99p performances at festivals.
Sharebuy you are 100% with me. Why did they not have recorded them while at the venue. I suppose they could have done and this is still in production but to miss the sweet spot is completely dumbfounded me.
Mel, L Devine is hardly starting out, she’s been on the go for 3 years and has two albums. She’s signed to Warner Bros (anyone recognise the connection). As said in my pitch, after watching her I went to YouTube to get more of her sounds and was very ****ed to see her full Vevo DSCVR (sound familiar) production FOC produced by Vevo. Not only that but a video called L Devine - Live in Newcastle (Behind The Scenes) which is almost identical to what Melody have produced (although Melody do have the edge) but this is free on YouTube.
I’m trying to figure out if they are still testing the water with the analytics or they now have a direction forward.
I know some people mention how superb Wireless festival was and it went without a hitch. This is true but you need to realise they sent the word out something like 2 weeks before with little to no promotions. This means far few viewers and connections so would have been destined to go without a hitch. They went from one extreme to the other and astonishingly failed with GMTV. Yes, they have the technology, yes they have the know how, yes they are still refining as they go and yes problem can occur. This can’t happen when paying for a product or they will automatically fail.
Melody need to create a niche market and quick. Something that sets themselves apart from the others so people will use their platform. They MUST start releasing some FREE content to get a substantial increase in users to the platform. This is why I’m excited about the gore tie in as this could create a niche market. I net you through what they’ve released their demographics will be all over the place. Lets hope they have good systems
Hi guys
Just giving my take on Discovery month and my takes are usually bang on the money ?? if you read any of my old posts I can see into the future. Right, enough bigging myself up.
For all you rampers/ de-rampers out there. The people that pull names and hair.
Discovery month in a nutshell
Overwhelmed and underwhelmed
WTF, I thought a month started on the first of a month instead of half way through. Pull up your socks Melody, we all need you to succeed.
So there’s a few plus points and a few negatives I need to get off my chest. Having the same price as a really big artist to a really good small time artist is crazy, although once you buy one you can see why. The production that’s went into them is really good. The camera angles are a bit too close at times unless you have eyes that can constantly see the tip of your nose. This is easy to rectify.
Just as I thought these are really good introductory pieces into an artist and their life. Why the heck (nice word) you can’t buy the artists music after this is just a complete mystery to me. They don’t even play the full songs in the Open R. Having at least one album would make perfect sense (unless this is in the pipeline)! But it’s really simple point off sale stuff at the checkout. They is maybe too late on this one but I hope it isn’t. Why the hell are these openers not free or a small amount with an album purchase after is beyond me. I’m 100% sure these would lead to VR album sales. All it’s done is left me a taste in my mouth to check them out on YouTube. This is bad. In fact really bad. Sending you thirsty purchaser to another platform. They’ve totally missed a trick by not also having a bundle together. There was really two artists that caught my eye but if they put the four of them together for a £5 then BOOM they would have my fiver by now.
So where are we at
Melody are struggling to get traction. It’s all about device adoption and app downloads and customer retention. I mean just check out their social media followers which is pitiful. Even when the artist are doing the promotion it’s either not right or they get little response. Time to get the thinking cap on guys.
Hopefully we won’t be hearing anymore crazy talk like I want the share to go to 2p. This is just crazy talk. If my money’s invested I only want to see it going ‘One Direction’ with me feeling confident about purchasing more shares and fast.
I’ve emailed melody around 3 times about menial stuff and never once had an answer. How unprofessional is that. Not being able to sync you account across devices is just plain crazy. If I buy stuff in my phone I can’t view it on my VR headset. Cmon... simple account stuff guys that should have been rectified by now.
It’s time they opened the closet doors. What are they scared of? Seems to me they are just trying to milk the content they’ve got.
Couldn't agree more Themis. You need to treat people as been not so bright to alleviate confusion. Its all about the UX. Most people will miss the date. If someone clicks and downloads MelodyVR your not even faced with a teaser in the app telling whats coming. People might come and go.... They're suppose to have a switch on team in there...
The door could be slightly ajar to it. As on Glastonbury's website it states...
The Festival retains all webcast/internet rights to the Festival. Any live web content from the Festival must be specifically agreed in advance with the Festival. The Festival’s own website is at www.glastonburyfestivals.co.uk. The BBC Glastonbury website is a www.bbc.co.uk/glastonbury.
It certainly would be the making of Melody if this was the case...
I'm not getting it Petebo? What's the waffle in my observations?
Hi Petebo, thanks for your kind comment. I am successful in my own right with an international software company and design agency. It's a simple equation. You can have all the licences in the world but if you ain't got footfall it's completely pointless and you fold.
They made a huge 'faux pa' with the first GMA broadcast. What makes it even worse they buried their head in the sand. On this first one they had a presenter talking you through it and what was happening. The next time this happened GMA / Melody never gave it their all because of the first broadcasting issues. They've made no secret about the fact they're going after America. They're still lucky to be getting chances after this incident. Sure it's the worlds first and technical issues will unfold but it's how you communicate these issues can make a huge difference.
They need to start releasing more catalogue updates. Especially now they could have O2 subscribing customers. Lets be honest, most people will go for the Amazon Prine option rather than MelodyVR (until they start making a name for themselves).
The missed opportunities and the broken promises to date are criminal. When Liam Payne first went live I thought that would be the start of at least one concert a month. Boy was I wrong... The rollout for other countries is going at a snails pace but why would they bring on this huge infrastructure while they are stil working out a way forward themselves. More importantly trying to work out how to make a return.
WE NEED LIVE PRODUCTIONS! Even if they are just Melody productions with artsist like Liam.
I could talk about EVRH all day but I better get back to my own work!
Hi GeordieShores
Yes I've been using the Quest from launch. Love it, it is the future. Facebook have ploughed some amount of money into the development of the device.
I'm normally a spectator but keep up to date with the forum on a daily basis. I'm just not into the name calling and pulling hair or to be classified as a ramper / deramper. It would seem having an opinion would show horn you into one of these name titles. You know who you all are...
MelodyVR have made some pretty massive failings along the way and they've had to change direction a few times because of weak device adoption. All the talks about buy outs by some pretty big names certainly keeps me amused. No-on will ever buy the company unless they get users and a proven return rate. FB could be the only one in line if this every happened because the belief of Mark Zuckerberg has in VR. At some point in the future VR & AR will probably amalgamate.
Where MelodyVR is now is interesting. They will never progress until there are a few things sorted with their app. The most important factor is being able to share the experience with a friend. Going to a concert on your own isn't the same as going with a friend. They need to sort this out ASAP and people should be able to talk with each other while using the platform. You can't even currently do this with the outside world as you can't even cast the application. This is probably for copyright reasons but even having something like this would increase usage. Why they can't watermark the cast is beyond me but I know they want people to 'buy' the experience. So if I casted to a room of 20 then they only get 1 ticket so I understand the issues.
The best experiences on their platform will always be the ones that Melody produce. MelodyVR are positioning themselves as the worlds best VR production company. When Melody produce experiences themselves they have control over the staging/lighting/sound etc... If you 'buy' one of their own productions to date (Emeli Sandé or Lewis Capaldi) you will see a clear difference. Also the fact that they are performing and talking to YOU rather than the room. This is where the big bucks will come from. These will be introductions for you to buy the artists music. They also make these purchases cheaper which will create more viewership. I certainly don't mind paying 99p - £1.99 for their productions and will buy most of the artist productions they make. It's funny watching the Lewis Capaldi concert... he totally gets VR.
It's the exact same with concerts. It's great being able to have the jump spots but when you purchase or watch their directors cut this is where you start to see the magic appearing. This is a great way to introduce yourself to new music and it leads to more purchases. I've purchased some music from artists I would even think I would like.
