Go on, enlighten me. What exactly is stupid about it? I know this is a real challenge for you as for once it means talking about what QBT is actually trying to do rather than just taking a dig at other posters but try really hard - you can do it!

Phimx - It's really odd that they've presented Method C benefits as:

"(i) reducing the energy cost of mining by approximately 30%; or (ii), accelerating the mining speed at current energy consumption and costs with approximately a 30% greater hash rate."

All this means is that for (ii) they could choose to have all their machines running as much as they were before and they will get (they claim) 30% more BTC. Or (i) they could mine the same number of coins as before but using less energy which basically means switching the machines off for 30% of the time - nothing more complicated than that!

I'm not sure why anybody would go for option (i) though as 30% of energy costs saved is much, much lower than the value of 30% extra coins. Why leave machines idle when it is profitable to run them. The same is always true unless the 30% energy cost is higher even AFTER applying Method C but in that case they probably wouldn't mine at all as each coin mined would still lose them money.

Manipulation happens. I just don’t think it’s of much relevance to LTHs for the reasons I gave. If you disagree then fine - no need to get quite so worked up about it.

So let me get this straight. Robert Warren used to work with RIOT and he was the moderator for the Nashville QBT session.

Hi AWL - yes, this board may not have much by way of info on it (most of what there is being provided by the ‘trolls’ ironically) but it more than makes up for it in laughs and in characters so comical that Dickens would have struggled to invent them.

I know Alex - I just get bored of the same two posters whining about manipulation almost every day as if that’s the big issue here. It’s a minor distraction at most but seems to be the go to place on many of these boards for those that like to find a scapegoat for their/our poor investment decisions.

It’s just like a gambler who blames his losses on the races being fixed. Can’t face up to their own choices.

The sp has halved over the last two years so the shorts are probably doing ok.

I can’t believe there are still so many people hanging onto RKB’s every word as if he is some form of prophet after yet another damp squib prediction. Mind you they are the same people who hang on to all of FG’s hints and promises despite the repeated lack of any deliverables - so maybe not quite so unbelievable after all?

Alex - My comment on manipulation was tongue-in-cheek. The point is that it doesn’t explain any (or at least not more than a penny of two) of the fall in sp from over £3 to under 30p. That’s down to the business.

Also those complaining of manipulation only seem to comment on it being one way. Surely it’s swings and roundabouts and sometimes the price will be a little lower perhaps than it should be and sometimes a little higher? So unless you’re a daytrader where every price move is critical why care? It’s just background noise to LTHs and our fortunes rest on the success or otherwise of the business not what direction the sp may be temporarily and minutely moved on a particular day?

If you think the chances of admin are 'one in a million' then you either you don't understand the finances or probability - or both.

This is a heavily loss making business with growing debt. If it keeps on as it is then it's only a matter of time. Even if they sell parts of the business that just buys them more time (and I think your valuation of Debs is way over the top).

They need to turn things around and start making money. They can hopefully do that but it's far from guaranteed and certainly not a probability of 999,999 out of 1,000,000.

Strange comment indeed. I'm invested in MKS and very much hope he succeeds there. Even if I wasn't I wouldn't want to see M&S 'destroyed' - not least because of all the jobs that would be lost.

We'll never know how much of BOO's problems over the last few years were down to Lyttle or Kamani - it depends on who was really pulling the strings - but JL has gone to a much bigger company now and even though he is not its CEO I suspect he has got a lot more power there without a domineering founder breathing down his neck.

Yes, can only really compare total numbers at the moment and staff numbers have certainly ballooned (especially in distribution) and were nearly double last year what they were in 2020. They will fall quite a bit this year but are still likely to be considerably higher than they were when they did the £1.2bn revenue in 2020. So much for automation and efficiency - but not too surprising as they are having to work over many more brands now to get the same revenue.

Unfortunately you can't use the 25 staff as a comparison to last year as this number only includes those staff associated with the marketplace side of Debenhams (DBZ) not the brands. These are now shown in a separate company (Debenhams Brands Online). To get the total Debenhams number the figures for both DBZ and Debenhams Brands Online need to be added together and this gives well over 200 staff and more than £14m staff costs for 2024.

Even these can't be compared with the 2023 Debs figures though as the 2024 numbers now include the brands that are no longer reported separately (Oasis ,DP. Burton etc.)

So any comparisons for Debs between 2024 and 2023 are fairly meaningless I'm afraid.

I think the conclusion is that after the initial excitement and flurry of activity with the announcement about Method C and then the subsequent placing (and churning) interest in the stock has dropped back down again with only one or two 'big' trades a day now? Seems a bit derampy of RKB to post such information...?
