If they're good enough, they'll get the job - competence still applies as the number 1 factor. Historically (& still today) there has been so much bias towards favoring straight white males over others who may have been more qualified. The imbalance across business & society is huge. I think including diversity as a secondary factor / consideration is not much of an ask.
Because the balance is so off, has been for so long & needs an adjustment - i'm saying this as a straight white man.

Wow you truly are stuck in the past - how the f can the promotion of 'diversity' be a 'cancerous movement'. Truly pathetic that that's your mindset. If you don't address inequality, society won't change. Competence in the role is still the primary factor for employment. If you breach this covenant then you're getting the concept wrong.
I'm proud to say as a regular white dude working in London that i'm very happy to be working for a company that is a promoter of equal opportunities for all & who are sensible in their recruitment approach putting competence at number 1. One of the very few companies to have a 60:40 female to male split of the board.
It's not a presumption, it's factually correct - you can't give it a day (let alone 7) to be patient / feel the need to ask if my opinions had changed overnight. you ain't chill dude. ;D

‘Diversity’ in the workplace is a good concept provided it’s executed correctly - nothing wrong with righting long-established societal work-imbalances with race / gender / poorer backgrounds (e.g. rich white city boys) by affording equal opportunities for all. First hiring decision has to be on competence in the role. Second hiring decision can be diversity. If two candidates score the same on competence, diversity should play a hand in the final decision imo.
Anyway, enough talk about 1984’s backwards views (not the first time). Let’s keep the chat on ctag.
