Interesting commentary about current and future lithium prices: pretty much echoes what AB has been saying.

So he reckons that the high prices from 2022 were unsustainable, current prices are too low and that prices will settle higher. He reckons that cost of production is between $500 and $900 a tonne for others.

Auger drilling is pretty straightforward: RRR has done it on multiple assets including the tailings dumps it was offered in DRC and at Macalder in Kenya.

The auger drilling is to determine, overburden, thickness of payzone, grade and so on. I don't know but likely that there is some silver too, just like at Macalder.

Cheaply, quickly and easily are relative terms. Relative to hard rock gold mining all three apply: nothing to do with RRR or FASO it is just the facts of life.

If you look at Soma Gold they recently stated that there all in gold production cost was in the low $900 per ounce area. With alluvial mining, the cost is typically between $300 and $500 per ounce.

The most complicated bit is the need to do some auger drilling.

I saw yesterday a post that claimed that RRR had only started the lithium company, ALR, to take advantage of the latest "hot fad": I can't find it now to directly respond to it (so many posts get deleted on here).

That statement was untrue:

In reality the discussions about lithium in Zimbabwe started in early 2021 and it took till March 2022 to get all the ducks in a row.

ALR/Zim has not been dropped as per the RNS from yesterday: "The Placing proceeds will be applied to lithium production and export operations in Zimbabwe, gold studies and development in Burkina Faso"

RRR has multiple projects and at different times, there is more activity on different ones than others. For instance, there has been little said on Kenya lately because RRR is waiting on the renewal process being completed. Once that has been completed then there will be news flow.

Given that ALR has not been dropped, FASO cannot be the latest "spin": the gold price makes gold projects more profitable and FASO has alluvial and colluvial deposits that can be brought into production cheaply, quickly and easily.

So it looks like Tshisekedi will win: no credible candidate on the other side representing a coalition and a bit late to organise one. The election is on the 20th it might take a few days to find out what has happened.

Dukey, I didn't know RRR existed 10 years ago, so I couldn't have been ramping it 10 years ago.

Timing. AB thought the proximity to the election would work in our favour: everyone wanting to finish things off, clear the decks and so on. Unfortunately, when shove came to push it went the other way. DRC could and should have been boxed off weeks ago.

Anyway, nothing fundamental has changed. RRR is on with Zim, Faso and NBGC. Except for the proximity of Christmas and accounts sign off probably there would have been no raise at this time.

Burkino Faso will be much sooner.

They are going for alluvial mining: it is just like Gold Rush the TV series.

They need to do some auger work to determine overburden, depth of the payzone, thickness of payzone and grade. Once that is done they just need some excavators, trucks and a washplant. They might need a smelter to produce dore.

It is not expensive and the kit is readily available.

They might be able to get someone else to smelt for them without having to buy a smelter.

They would need a plan for the site and they would start where the grade is decent, the overburden not too great and the thickness of the payzone decent. You wouldn't want to keep moving around all the time: ideally, they would want continuous production for a few months on one site and then move. It is all about cost and efficiency.
