Wood Group PLC has released a trading update for Q3 2024. While there was strong growth in Operations and margin expansion in Consulting, the Projects business underperformed due to delayed awards and weakness in certain sectors. Despite this, the company has reiterated its full year guidance of high single-digit growth in EBITDA and flat net debt.

Good Points:

Strong Growth in Operations: The Operations business continues to see strong momentum with increased activity levels, particularly in Europe and the Middle East.

Margin Expansion in Consulting: Consulting continues to expand its margins, driven by enhanced business mix and improved pricing.

Progress in Simplification Program: The Simplification program is on track to deliver annualized savings of c.$60 million.

Increased Focus on Sustainable Solutions: Sustainable solutions now represent 46% of the company's pipeline.

Bad Points:

Weak Performance in Projects: The Projects business underperformed due to delayed awards and weakness in certain sectors.

Potential for Prior Year Restatement: An independent review is being conducted to assess the impact on prior year financial statements.

Uncertainty Regarding EthosEnergy Sale: The completion of the EthosEnergy sale is subject to regulatory approvals and may not occur by the end of the year.

Overall the sell off is well over done, and expect with the sustainable and GB Energy projects for a fast price rerate north

Within the Budget there was a significant boost for housing investment to kickstart the biggest increase in social and affordable housebuilding in a generation, help build 1.5 million homes over this Parliament and tackle homelessness.

To boost supply, the Government will invest £5 billion in housing in 2025-26, an increase of £1 billion on the previous year, which includes £500 million additional funding for the Affordable Homes Programme and an additional £50 million to turbocharge planning reform.

Maybe its your computer browser or phone that is the issue, I have check my PC, laptop, and mobile and its show on all of them.

I have see this a fair few times where yahoo is registering big buys and sells that LSE site does not show until the next day due to the way the different trade track systems work. Yahoo get direct intel and LSE gets registered intel, hence why I use both to double check the under the hood of the money machine.

Aberdeen have repeatedly sold shares of lots of companies just prior to results with the price rocketing.

The last time they sold was on the 12-Oct-2023 (RNS Number : 2697Q) with a reduction from 8.60% to 5.88%

If you look back at the charts the price had dipped on the 22nd Sept to 12th Oct, and then increased after Aberdeen had sold the price went back up 71%!

the speculation of a takeover and no rebuttal from the company

the delay in news about the dividend

I suspect that a large fund is selling as they have held shares pre-2019 and in massive profit and selling to realise the funds and balance their portfolio before the budget on the 30th.

Considering we already know that the company will show circa £45m profit, and the brand is solid,

Looking through, it appears that everything sold is being bought at volume..

So is this an asset swap between funds?

This has takeover written all over it. circa £1.3b price would seem about right
