RE: Happily Waiting...10 Aug 2021 11:29
Interesting thought that the IPCC report yesterday is 3,949 pages long and the word 'likely' was repeated 2,518 times.
When you think 90% of disagreement re energy is about 'philosophy' and not the facts. We tend to talk more about the negatives of fossil fuels and not the positives. We do have options for the world an we must focus on a goal here. To me human flourishing with long healthy lives is most the important. Ya know three billion people use no energy - but some are obsessed with a polar bear an ice. A warmer world means there are less cold related deaths. Also, more CO2 makes the planet greener which helps more food to grow.
Fossil fuels are actually very valuable and we need more of them.
Solar and wind should be called 'unreliables' When you have electricity that can go to zero power you need a back up as they come and go with the weather. Hello fossil fuels.
These alternatives of sun an wind have been around for years, but fossil fuels are still dominant so why is that ? Energy is a process and needs to be reliable . Look at Texas where the wind turbines froze. The money from wind and solar etc will be taken away from fossil fuels and will add to the cost of reliable energy... ie good old fossil fuels which are ?are naturally stored and the lowest cost. The lack of investment in to oil gas will become our major problem with the 'fear of the fear.'
Nuclear an Hydro is opposed by the Hamilton Pete brigade. So for now they will not overtake fossil fuels.
World life expectancy is higher, GDP is up, population is also up are CO2. Is life really worse ? No, we just need to learn to adapt.
Will West Newton be the biggest Oil an Gas find in years in the UK ? I say one big yes and we will adapt to Hydrogen.
Will Wressle flow at 500 BOPD ? I say yes and will increase production quickly now in my mind as the council an charities have seen the money arrive. Funny that.
The only thing dirty with Union Jack Oil at the moment is the price, and that is dirt cheap !
