A developed UK Shale Gas industry would be producing more than enough Gas for UK consumption, looking towards the henry hub model in the States where large production has kept prices down, thus why many LNG tankers have been sailing across the Atlantic full of chilled US fracked gas to save us. With a developed industry this could insulate us from Global price hikes. Looking at Europe alone with a strong shale gas output from the UK, Russia choking supplies earlier this year wouldn't have had the same supply and demand spike. The taxation alone on UK Shale Gas over the past 10 years could have paid for free house insulation alone! My worry is with Europe gas storage under usual levels for this time of year, moving forward the UK is most vulnerable with only 4 days worth of storage, the winter has been mild so far, will we stay lucky !!?
