I am a Chartered Accountant, have sat on boards of AIM companies, been involved in corporate finance and deals for most of my career, now retired.

Consider this:

I am CEO of BP and quite like all the intel I now have on AV, particularly following ESMO. I say to my FD how to we go about this? He says, simples, the shareholder base of AV is dominated by PIs with no dominant institutional investor in sight, MC is £267m, cash bid of 150p would be a knock out and come out of our petty cash!

Who, exactly, might stop this and how?

Talk about imminent news seems silly; the interims are due end of month so surely all updates will be revealed then?

Please justify your comment about ‘deep undervaluation’.

This company has a terrible record and management has to prove it can take advantage of the situation it now faces.

The recent price action between 87p and 56p gives every indication of a very bullish ‘flag’ signal in formation. An early move into the 70’s would likely confirm this and presage a move towards 120p.

Just thought I would post this to get the usual cynics going!

What rumours?

Slide 8 of the presentation refers to the somewhat better climate in the US for funding early stage, pre-rev Tx companies compared with the UK. Subject to general tyding up which is now underway and disposing of the Dx division, this statement is surely a lead in to a NASDAQ listing and cap raise at some stage?

What’s the betting on an RNS saying that TG will not now offer himself or re-election at the AGM?

Wouldn’t it be rather interesting to see how many of us have voted against for the AGM.

I, for one, have cast my reasonably large holding against.

Good riddance to Forster he was largely responsible for the shambles over recent times and should have been stronger in controlling Smith and Gardiner who will be the next out the door after the AGM. Gardiner must take responsibility for the Heights mess - idiot.

They make the point that cash should be OK through key value inflection points but resulting in negative cash by end 2025. However, there seems to be flexibility to extent into 2026 if wider R&D projects are deferred.

Clearly, the BOD will have to focus its collective brain power on the issue of funding around the end of this year/early next IF no other corporate action takes place.

I rather think there will be quite a few shareholders who will be voting against this one.

I most certainly will; he doesn’t deserve to be re-elected.

Why would any sensible CEO of big pharma pay a crazy double digit x SP for Avacta when his advisers would tell him the AV shareholders would fall over themselves at present to accept something like 125p? Yes, such a bid might set off a bidding war, but only might.

I think we can now see why Smith has gone - the awful move into Diagnostics.

These acquisitions cost nearly £32m in cash with more to pay on earn outs. Yet in the results just announced the segment has shown a loss of £13,448,000 after impairment (!!) of £5,225,000. Isn’t that just truly diabolical. After all the bullxxxt we were given they now want out and who is likely to buy at anywhere near the cost AV paid?

The current chairman and FD have to follow Smith out of the door since they can’t avoid responsibility for this shambles.
