The mad thing is that 5 or so years ago we had a big thing bolted to the floor that aimed to produce 240kw - now we’ve got multiple products that are mobile and will power a rally event, a building site and maybe even a train or boat. That’s what 300k a year gets you.

It’s always good to see Phat - it means the share price is moving in a positive direction!

Whatever it is they must have seen it running in some decent state to have signed given it’s got to be operational in the field in 6 months.

Are you suggesting it’s a 20kw, or multiples of?

Surely they must already have a running 160kw unit to have got this deal?

The more you think about the mobility point the more attractive it seems - why would you spend money on upgrading the grid that you won’t get back and that ties you to a particular site. Obtaining a mobile asset is a far more attractive proposition as it provides so much more freedom.

There was an interesting conversation here a while back on how we should decentralise power production to be more local. It’s amazing how much power is lost between the producer and consumer through the grid due to distance - it could be far more efficient if we changed the model.

The main problem is probably that when someone points out that the grid won’t cope the answer is always ‘how do we improve the grid’ rather than exploring non-grid options. AB has now put that option on the table with the Government so hopefully we will benefit from that.

Thanks Doc7 and I too am expecting to have to wait a bit longer. I personally see the 160kw L version generating sales but until that is built and proved I don’t see why anyone would part with any money for one.

I worry that no one will take the plunge and buy until a 160kw unit exists and has been proved to work. We should have had one this month and while I accept why we don’t I’m not sure the decision to build only when bought will be acceptable to many potential purchasers.

On the plus side they should now be full steam ahead getting this made for the trial and this will also prove the EV side too.

Perhaps after the shortfall on Kore when we got 204kw rather than 240 has made people a little cautious.

If government funding is being made available in July perhaps they are concentrating their efforts on this? Mr Pollard must be busy doing something as he’s been quiet of late on social media.

Nealsp - we had a similar conversation around ABs body language a year or so ago, hence why I wouldn’t put too much money on it. The company is quite different now however (but it’s still AB).
