AB keeping AFC in the picture...

At AFC Energy, we continue to strongly advocate the role of Hydrogen in meeting the world’s decarbonisation aspirations and look forwards to furthering our growth potential in the US with several of the great organisations we are currently working with.

They are launching the product but it’s still being tested. I may launch my own fuel cell tomorrow - it’s currently in concept stage.

At least here they’ve been clear on the timescales for the solid cell that will be needed for this type of application. Let’s hope they meet their 2022 target, meet it with a product sized for the market, and there is still business to be done!

Hi Yellow - you appear to have something against this company and I’ve no idea why, and I doubt anything I say will change what you are doing.

I do however find it difficult to justify the ‘failing company’ comment when we have so much going on next year and plans for 2022 and beyond, and quite a lot of money in the bank. That doesn’t sound like a failing company, more a company that is entering the market with further promise to come.

Where is failing, other than not communicating as often as some people would like?

Just following up on Taskmasters post re Ballard - this is PEM so will require the purest hydrogen and of course still have the same issues with the green credentials of how that hydrogen will be produced, as correctly pointed out by the interviewer of AB yesterday.

It’s easy to say ‘someone’s beaten us to it’ but in reality they haven’t - they will in the end show why AFC is the better option.

Well that was a letdown!

It’s good exposure and I’d rather him doing it than someone else. It does however remind me of my previous manager who spent a lot of time speaking at conferences but was severely lacking in his actual job! Personally l think a lot of AB for what he’s done for AFC over the last 5 years from a product perspective but it’s not all good, at least from a comms perspective.

It’s something sensible to debate as we wait red - better than the normal arguments! You are right though, it’s another mention of something we never get closure on.

I’ve searched and I often see “ The combination of two or more CE marked sub-systems does not always automatically produce a compliant system.”

When combining products by a manufacturer for sale then it looks like additional risk assessments are required. I’ve not seen anything to say a new CE mark is required however but there is clearly plenty to do to ensure the combination works before it gets sold as a package, and if the combination is put together by the manufacturers (rather than users) it is the manufacturers responsibility to undertake all the checks, produce the docs etc.

That’s all we need - more Boris in a hard hat.

Looking at the gov site on CE marking it says “ By placing the CE marking on a product a manufacturer is declaring, on his sole responsibility, conformity with all of the legal requirements to achieve CE marking. ”

Could AFC do this for someone else’s product they plug into, or would they want to ensure whatever they plug into is CE marked?
