It is a total nonsense comparing hemo to motif bio. First MTFB had one antibiotic that had already run into problems in clinical studies that they were trying to register in a sub population of renal impaired patients as they can not use vancomycin. There was nothing very exciting about the product or the he market- now compare that to the multiple ground breaking products that hemo are working on, the big pharma partners that obviously recognise the potential, the market size for each of the therapeutic areas they are going after : it is a totally different prospect- albeit none are currently in clinical stages and it could be several years before any are likely to be approved. Before that several years are up they will obtain commercial agreements with big pharma with milestone payments and the sums of those milestone payments will be multiples of the current market cap. I think hemo has a lot more to offer than mtfb

You could be right there - exterior GP are also a way of evading host immune cell recognition so would imagine external proteins would be glycosylated

The viral spike protein binds glycoproteins as a mechanism for cell entry as per the influenza spike proteins haemagglutinin or neurominidase- It might be glycosylated itself : I don't know. The important thing is that they have an aptamer that recognises this esxclusively.

Dont think they are using PCR - they are not detecting viral DNA/RNA they have designed aptamers to recognise motifs on the viral spike protein much like an antibody would but with several advantages over antibody based tests.

Works like an antibody - ie it binds antigen on the virus coat protein but it is more akin to a chemical - irather than an antibody which is a protein therefore quite sensitive - the aptamers can be badly mistreated and still work. Problem with antibodies is that unless you have a very specific monoclonal then you get cross reactivity and false positives - aptamers are designed to be way more specific.

Its neither actually it is an aptamer test which is based on nucleic acids and is way more robust and specific than an antibody test which is heat labile and requires an amount of skill to run - unless on test strip. The aptamer technology can be attached to a gold chip and antigen binding detected by surface plasmon resonance so that the output can be deciphered electronically - a kind of biosensor for dummies that can be used when it is necessary to process a lot of people in a short amount of time ie airports - football matches etc.

hemo isnt trying for to develop vaccine (that we know of) albeit it does have a collaboration with Jansen arm of Johnson & Johnson who are currently developing a vaccine- it is, however working on the discovery of neutralising antibodies using its humanised mouse model to potentially treat covid-19 ie direct the immune system to attack the virus itself. Hemo is also working on a test method that would differentiate whether a particular person is at high risk of the more severe symptoms or lower risk.

Yes I found that interesting also - huge scope to the technology: anti biologic warfare, rapid detection of neutralizing antibodies from surviving patients for any given viral outbreak - I am interested from the aspect of screening biologic drugs as a predictor for human immunogenicity - that has the potential to shave millions off development costs.

Did they initiate the phase 1 trial in adult relapsed refractory AML on the CDX antibodies? when do they expect reads from that ?- They mentioned that it is also immunolgically compatable with Rhesus Monkey and that they could get an efficacy read from the this study but I havn't seen the report.
