Radio four has also had a lot to say about the subject, probably available on BBC "sounds" . But just chatting to my regular haunts for food and drink there are a lot of worried people out there. Particularly those not within the Monopoly of St Austell Brewery. Even the fragrant Wetherspoons has closed pubs locally! This all within the greater SouthWest which has a longer season than most areas of the UK.

Before I'm accused of pessimism . None of these factors will affect my life in particular. I will comfortably survive but the greater picture is not great.

This not progress, it's stagnation.

Totally dependant on the economy I reckon. There is a string of people on Radio 5 talking about massive increases in their rates. Unsustainable rises. Catering ,pubs ,hairdressers small businesses . Plus extra NI, rising minimum wages, Many of these are dependant on the working poor ...many of whom are now paying tax for the first time. Labour have pummelled the very people they pledged to represent!

So let's not hear of "growth" .

Half of those ringing in to the phone in can see themselves going out of business this year.

Another kick in the teeth for the rapidly empty high streets...

The local town is full of Nail bars and Barbers...even the charity shops have gone. THe professionals ,banks, big high brands , replaced by phone shops, that sell "vapes and other "things" on the side.

So much for Starmer's "turning the corner". This year's phrase...Growth left town on the last train..

No such suit or criminal case is registered with any Court I can find.

It is what it is ,have some fun with it. OR: organise and get him into court. Not going to happen is it because those that over stretched themselves cannot accept their foolishness. We are all guilty of believing hyped investments . Live with it and move on. SYME was never an investment. Always a punt for modest stakes.

You might just get back a few £K from a punt of a few hundred. You might not.

Next steps and likely timelines, based on what’s been announced (not speculation):

Due diligence + independent valuation

This is already implied by the Heads of Terms. Expect this to run Jan–Feb. No RNS until something is concluded.

Equity raise c. 10% dilution minimal.

Management has flagged this openly in the RNS (for acquisition cash, going-concern clarity and seeding inventory).

Realistically Jan–Feb. Not optional if they want this structure to work.

Completion of the acquisition

Company guidance is by end March 2026. This is the first genuinely transformational milestone because SYME then controls the inventory SPVs.

Senior lender / policy-backed funding discussions.

These only become meaningful after completion. Expect language around asset-backed facilities / credit enhancement in Q2 2026 if things go to plan.

First scaled transactions

If lenders engage, larger IM volumes and possibly additional suppliers would follow in Q2–Q3 2026.

Important point: this is not a “one RNS and done” story. It’s a sequenced de-risking process. Each step removes a blocker that’s existed for years.

The key takeaway for me: until SYME owned the inventory vehicles, bank or government-backed funding was a non-starter. This RNS finally puts that precondition in motion. Execution risk remains, but the path is now explicit.

SYME is already running a small pilot inventory monetisation scheme with Tekne to prove it works and is seeking Italian government approval to provide lender and funder SACE related guarantees thereby mitigating and addressing the risk of unsold stock which lenders such as Banco BPM faced"
