With the fall of the Iron Curtain, why did most to the ex Soviet bloc countries who had been trapped under Moscow rule for 45 years decide to join NATO? Who did they see as a threat to their security, the West or Russia? Lets remember that they were all sovereign countries that had been invaded and occupied by Nazi Germany in WW2. Russia then became a liberating army as they drove the Germans back west and the other allies drove the Germans back East from France. When WW2 ended all of occupied Europe that had been liberated by American/British and other allied forces attacking from the west were free again sovereign nations and the allies withdrew. But to the East the liberating Russian army then became an occupying army and stayed. These countries were then subjected to Soviet rule for 45 years until the fall of the iron curtain. So how can Russia now demand that the clock is turned back to before the fall of the iron curtain because they feel their security is threatened by these counties joining NATO? What about these countries who obviously feel threatened by Russia so joined NATO, are their interests not overriding any Russia interests? The west was never going to be a threat to Russian security as long as the Russians stayed within their borders, they have no intention of invading Russia. Russian actions now show who is the threat to world peace.

Russia is one of the 5 permanent members of the UN security Council, there are 15 members in total. After Russia's invasion of Ukraine, surely they must now be kicked of the UN Security Council, not just as a permanent member, but from being be a member at all! The other 14 members must insist on this, how can they now trust Russia after the invasion of Ukraine.

Ridiculous that FIFA have not thrown Russia out of world cup! Instead they can play in the qualifiers but cannot play any games at home in Russia, and not allow the Russian Flag or National Anthem! Several teams including Poland, Sweden and the Czech Republic have declared they will not participate in any matches with Russia in the qualifying rounds.

The U.S. and allies on Saturday attempted to slam the brakes on Russia’s economy and banking systems by expelling selected Russian banks from the global bank-to-bank payment system known as SWIFT, the next step in a series of increasing sanctions punishing President Vladimir Putin for his unprovoked invasion of Ukraine.

“Putin's government is getting kicked off the international financial system,” a senior Biden administration official told reporters on Saturday. “To be clear, this is a sad outcome for the people of Ukraine, the people of Russia and many others. This is not where we want it to be. But this is Putin's war of choice, and only Putin can decide how much more cost he is willing to bear—the United States and our allies and partners are unified and will continue to impose costs.”

The decision to remove the Russian institutions from SWIFT was announced in concert with the European Commission, Britain, Canada, France, Germany and Italy. In a Saturday statement, the group of allies warned that a list of five moves aim to “hold Russia to account and collectively ensure that this war is a strategic failure for Putin.”

I was under the impression that with less shares in circulation at x dividend date, the total amount set aside for 2021 dividend is paid out to fewer shares increasing the payout. Why wait for the future to distribute the amount of dividend saved from the reduction in shares when that amount has already been itemised for 2021 dividend payment? Wait for the future to distribute = jam tomorrow.

What will happen to the amount of dividend that would have been payable to the shares which are bought back and cancelled between yesterday and x dividend date? Will that amount be paid out pro rata to the revised total of shares on the register at x dividend date to share holders in addition to the 1.33p per share?

I believe the dividend policy for 2017 and 2018 under AHO was a payout ratio of 70% of EPS, that is why the dividend was so high that years.

2p is the Full Year dividend. The final dividend is 1.33p which will be paid in May. Interim dividend of 0.67p has already been paid in September 2021.
