Lloyds Banking Group plc (the "Company") announces today that it has purchased the following number of its ordinary shares, from Morgan Stanley & Co. International plc (the "Broker").

Ordinary Shares

Date of purchases: 7 March 2022

Number of ordinary shares purchased: 86,906,913

Highest price paid per share (pence): 42.27

Lowest price paid per share (pence): 38.16

Volume weighted average price paid per share (pence): 40.90

Such purchases form part of the Company's existing share buyback programme and were effected pursuant to the instructions issued to the Broker by the Company on 24 February 2022, as announced on 25 February 2022.

The Company intends to cancel these shares.

In accordance with Article 5(1)(b) of Regulation (EU) No 596/2014 (the Market Abuse Regulation) (as such legislation forms part of retained EU law as defined in the EU (Withdrawal) Act 2018), a full breakdown of the individual trades made by the Broker on behalf of the Company as part of the buyback programme is set out in the Schedule to this announcement available through the link below:

I did indeed say that. The only thing saving Boris at the moment is the Ukraine crisis has once again deflected attention away from the parties scandal. And we are still also awaiting the completion and results of the Metropolitan Police investigation.

People shout it was Boris that won the election, that' s rubbish. The Tories won on the "lets get Brexit done" mandate. See if they win all the Labour seats that voted Tory last time to get Brexit done at the next election, no chance. Boris is excess baggage now for the Tories, he will be dumped by the Tories before the next election.

March 6 (Reuters) - Russian bank VTB (VTBR.MM) is preparing to wind down its European operations after being hit hard by Western sanctions, the Financial Times reported on Sunday.

VTB has an investment banking operation in London and a retail bank in Germany with 160,000 customers but has decided it is unable to operate outside Russia after its assets were frozen by Western allies, the FT said, citing people with knowledge of internal discussions.

What mandate does Putin have to deny Ukraine becoming a member of NATO? Ukraine became an independent sovereign nation in 1991 after the fall of the Iron Curtain. Putin only became President of Russia in March 2000, 9 years after Ukraine became an independent nation.

Britain on Tuesday banned from its ports all ships that are Russian owned, operated, controlled, chartered, registered or flagged. It later said, however, that Russia could still send oil and gas to Britain because the sanction was focused on the vessel, not its cargo.

Energy supplies originating from Russia were still being delivered to Britain on Friday after some dock workers at a terminal in southeast England sought to block a cargo in solidarity with Ukraine, ship-tracking data shows.

Supplies of Russian liquefied natural gas (LNG) to Europe have been disrupted this week by uncertainty over whether ships can discharge cargoes at European ports after the imposition of sanctions on Russia after its invasion of Ukraine and a ban by British ports on Russian-linked ships.

British union Unison has complained that its members working at the Isle of Grain LNG terminal did not want to accept Russian gas and called for tougher measures from the government.

China Taps Alternative Payments to Keep Russian Oil Flowing.

Chinese refiners are paying for Russian crude oil using cash transfers to maintain imports from Russia’s Fast East, as banks shy away from financing the oil because of sanctions, sources with knowledge of the matter said.

Global oil prices have soared to their highest in a decade as banks halted financing Russian oil after the United States and other countries ramped up sanctions on Moscow following its invasion of Ukraine.

Spot crude premiums and freight rates also spiked, piling on buyers’ costs.

Several European and U.S. refiners have stopped buying Russian oil this week, even though Washington said Russian oil and gas are exempted from sanctions.

But Chinese buyers are looking to maintain purchases of ESPO Blend crude exported from Russia’s Far East Kozmino port using other payment methods as they cannot secure letters of credit from banks, trade sources said.

“For those done deals, payments are being sorted out with buyers doing Telegraphic Transfer as bank financing becomes very difficult,” said a Singapore-based Chinese trading executive.

Watching the news Ukrainian President Zelenskyy is now very critical of the West/NATO for not agreeing to help by starting and enforcing a no fly zone over Ukraine. He is obviously feeling betrayed that his country and people are taking the full fury of Putin's anger for daring to ask to join the EU and NATO which was agreed in principal by both organisations but takes several years to complete during which time they must prove they meet the minimum joining criteria for both before being formally accepted. How long can he carry on watching his country being destroyed and his people being slaughtered knowing that NATO cannot intervene militarily because his country was brave enough to defy Putin but was not yet admitted to NATO. Putin is rightly facing International Condemnation for his barbaric acts, and rightly so, and he and his country and people will eventually suffer when the sanctions being imposed bite, but how long will this take? But during that time Ukraine will be destroyed and many thousands of civilians killed or made homeless. Will this force Zelensky to change his stance and agree to Putin's demands to save his country and people from further suffering? Maybe NATO should change their constitution to say that they will also defend any country who has formally applied to join and has been agreed to in principal by all other members? I still cannot take it in that this is happening again on Continental Europe after the harsh lessons of 2 world wars, and the Institutions that were put in place after them to make sure it did not happen again. History seems to be repeating itself; this should not be happening!
