I worked at Rolls Royce for 25 years. The unions are quite strong there and have worked for great T&C's for generations. I remember that strike action is often called for but in my 25 year experience it never once actually came to that. It's the usual cut and thrust of healthy negotiations. Nothing to worry about from an investors perspective. £7 Feb 25 👍😀
After doing my research...Lol
Has this gone away? It was panic stations the other day and now it seems it isn't an issue even though there is a strong likelehood of it happening.
My understanding is that they can from next February as the criteria have been met.
When I was working there (24 years total) there were a couple of main schemes. Share save when you lock in a price which is discounted by 15% and then save up to £250 per month from salary and then in three five or seven years you get the option to buy the shares at that initial price or take the money depending on how the shares have done. It was nearly always oversubscribed so you applied for £250 and probably got £180 or something similar.
The other option is share purchase where you can buy up to a certain value (forget how much but £150 or £250 a month at the market price but this money comes out pre tax so for a higher rate tax payer it's a good tax efficient way to have shares. You do have to keep them for five years though or you have to pay the tax on them.
There are probably other schemes for managers and directors.
The burning platform comments were not intended for external consumption. It was leaked. It was a standard "you need tov raise your game" speech to the workers. I'm sure if he thought he was talking directly to the markets he would have had an entirely different tone. Certainly more upbeat.
I suspect mentioning Nettles is a "claws" in the contract...
I heard a rumour there were some parties at No. 10 during lock down... I'm sure there's nothing in it.
The Company is a Consortium of which RR are a major player. Shares in RR are shares that are heavilly related to SMR.
Correct. R R has a business working on Civil Nuclear. It is part of the RR group.
Topped up @118! Hoping I found the bottom of the dip...that never happens to me. :-)
Rolls Royce have been recruiting again for a while. Several of my friends who took severance are now back as contractors. It's classic Rolls Royce but does bode well. They have to try and plan for delivering engines and demand is clearly being switched back on.
Just for information, orders are coming on line for new engines (orders that had been previously pushed back). RR are recruiting for Engine build, between 150 and 200 people in Derby. As an ex RR employee I heard this from contacts I've maintained.
I agree to ignore the doomsters but also take into account that nothing they say on here makes one bit of difference. I only come on here occasionally and it's like watching any soap...nothing changes and the same old characters are doing the same old thing and none of it makes a blind bit of difference. :-)
Nothing to be excited about. Many manufacturing companies have Summer shut downs. Toyota down the road from RR do this. Summer has always been an issue for RR Engine build as many of the suppliers also have a seasonal shut down. This decision albeit an old one makes sense.
What I do find odd is how the market responds negatively to sensible cost saving decisions when they are made by RR.
26,593 shares averaged at £0.58 due to the rights issue. (£15,500 invested).
I think I'm looking to hold them for a couple of years though. Pay off the Mortgage! :-)
