I obviously don't think the average person lacks empathy full stop, I was referring more to how we process the suffering we see blasted into our retinas on the news and through other mediums.

I'm hoping to see the share price pushing on from Friday and would be happy if it settles in the 130s. From there it really depends on what bitcoin does next - if it kicks on and pushes past the ATH then there is a real chance for the sort of FOMO we saw in February and I wouldn't rule anything out share price-wise in the short term.

I personally don't think the average person is particularly empathetic, we tend to empathise more with events and incidences that directly affect us. It's true of terrorist attacks in places like Afghanistan vs Paris, the latter we can imagine ourselves or our friends harmlessly enjoying their holidays and it quickly turning into a nightmare whereas the former just doesn't resonate in the same way.

Similarly with covid we all have had now had it or know many people who have had it and shaken it off with varying degrees of success. At this stage the majority who have been vaccinated aren't scared to catch it and just assume that those that are dying are in the same cohort of people who sadly pass away with flu and colds.

I don't know where the line should be drawn, there is going to be deaths from covid in perpetuity but the numbers are stubbornly high and there needs to be a strategy beyond simply 'learning to live with covid'

Warren Buffett comes from a different day and age and speaks for a different crowd than the cryptosphere - monied individuals will be happy if they make their 10-15% returns on what will already be a sizeable portfolio to begin with.

It comes back to lottohopes' great post earlier... many in my age group know that they don't have the same chance and opportunities in life that the baby boomers had, owning property is but a dream to those of us working outside the financial sector and living in the South East/London in particular. If you don't have much to start with are you going to be as concerned about big losses, or excited by small yearly gains?

I'm sure if you learn from the likes of Buffett you will see healthy and consistent returns, value investing has its place, but for the rest of us we are willing to take on what would be considered high risk when we see asymmetric risk/reward - and that's what, at least up til now, bitcoin and the digital asset space has provided.

Good luck with your O&G investments drlong - it's strange you don't seem to post much on those bb's though, preferring to focus your attention on the sectors you aren't enamoured with...

It'll probably give it a little boost but preferably nothing too dramatic, it's the obvious pumps that lead to a sharp correction in price. That's what's been so positive about this 100% rise over the past three months from $30k, slow and steady, less temptation to quickly solidify profits.

Meanwhile if the supply shock theory is correct there is the potential for the price to reach ATHs and then go on a rally.

Put it this way... I'm no bitcoin bull ( the opposite some would argue), I'm quite a risk averse trader on the whole and yet I've now moved 20% of my portfolio into Argo going into the weekend. BTC's strength and Argo's sluggishness is the sort of short term divergence I'm always looking for - BTC looks primed to continue rising and I see it as merely a matter of time before this pops.

No, I don't agree. The share price was always going to be walked down to as close to the IPO price as possible but BTC has risen nearly 50% since the end of September. If BTC carries on to new ATHs this is popping, and since the SP is currently so low there is huge catching up to be had. This is a tug of war that the bears controlled but the result is inevitable if BTC marches on...

I'm not saying it's a certainty obviously, I'm saying at this price and with BTC hitting $60k this is the sort of risk/reward one dreams of.

I agree in general with what you've just said misterbeck but there really are rare opportunities where everything aligns and the chance of a share price surging is very high - this is one of those instances.

Buy/sell/hold, do whatever you want but you've got to know that the risk/reward is crazy in our favour right now.

Calm. Keep focusing on BTC and this will rerate over a week or two …

Whilst I am 99% sure our porcine friend is moonlighting under new guises and is still with us in everything but name, I can't help but feel a sense of unfaithfulness, of infidelity, of adultery when I pop on the Valirx bb and see our Porky, the very Babe who once kept us company through the night, who would hold our hooves in times of trouble, projecting the same enthusiasm, energy and optimism to a new sow.

The sense of loss is palpable.

Yes it does directly relate to us, just not immediately! Over a longer time horizon Argo and BTC are very closely aligned.

Fast forward a year and a bit to the start of 2023 - we will likely have the electrolyte plant in full operation and the vametco hybrid mini grid and be producing around 5200mtV with plans to eventually grow that to ~6500mtV and then ~8000mtV. VRFB's may well be ubiquitous and a major new global industry. And who knows how big Enerox will be by that point.

One of the main narratives that supports explosive upside for bitcoin is the propensity to HODL as much as possible... that burden falls most squarely on the miners and the likes of Saylor, Musk/Tesla etc who are able to accumulate in large volume . The more bitcoin taken out of circulation the greater the chance of a supply squeeze that sends bitcoin parabolic.

A trading arm would fly in the face of this.

The markets absolutely love a full year guidance upgrade and it's got to be likely following this period of increased travel testing and consistently high and stubborn case numbers - could be what kickstarts the recovery once and for all.
