We'd been trading sideways and flat for weeks and then it broke out to the upside - that does not suggest a leak.

After all the suggestions of leaks and what have you Friday I hope folk realise now that the rise Friday was more of a reaction to the deteriorating covid outlook and our ridiculously undervalued share price.

Interest and attention should only grow from here as we head towards the winter months...

It looks like another hyped up IPO leading to a huge overvaluation, it did begin trading after all on the day of the new bitcoin ATH. I think the market cap is lower now than you quoted, at or below $1b, but yeah it's crazy to think even if only ST that this is significantly higher than Argo.

Does highlight how much upside there is here with the right tailwinds.

@hamster the restrictions, lockdown, mask wearing and social distancing virtually eradicated flu last winter... this is a great way to highlight just how infectious covid is as only the most stringent/all of the above has been able to bring covid case rates down to manageable levels. It's often said that covid is about twice as infectious as flu but the reality is starker than that. This is from a recent guardian article:

Sars-CoV-2 is more infectious than seasonal flu. We’re used to hearing about the reproduction number R, the average number of people whom someone with the virus will infect. In a population without immunity and policies such as social distancing, R for Sars-CoV-2 is now estimated to be around 3. New mutations have raised R further.

In comparison, reproduction numbers for seasonal flu are about 1.3, varying yearly. In the 1918 Spanish flu pandemic, R was higher, at roughly 1.8. That explains why the distancing and other measures being taken, which can bring R for Sars-CoV-2 from 3 to below 1, are enough to almost eliminate seasonal flu.

We're still in October so you would very much expect that... although the flu season is considered to start a bit earlier in the US than here in reality it really gets going in mid to late November through to early March.

That would be my guess. It was pushed about as low as possible, there were probably traders who tried to exploit the lowkey AGM and the lack of Q3 update but in the end it didn't want to go any lower.

So just an acknowledgement that we were grossly undervalued, something we all knew anyway.

I would imagine it's simply traders accepting that 250p is the bottom and once one started buying others followed hot on their heels. They will also be aware of how quickly this would move if alongside the deteriorating covid picture we were to get some positive news next week.

I bought 15k shares earlier at 250p just before the big rise so I am going to tell myself that I was the one that kickstarted it !

WoW how exactly does that work if you don't mind me asking? If you're longing BTC and then open up a leveraged short aren't you in effect cancelling both of your positions out and simply giving away transaction fees? I am very much an amateur trader but when I'm in that position where I think something is toppy I will either sell out and wait on the sidelines til I can see a clear direction or reduce significantly to lower the downside exposure...

Their concept of changing course if and only if the science tells us to is like getting on a plane from equatorial Brazil in your shorts and t shirt and then upon landing in Williams Field, Antartica brazenly stating 'we must now act fast to protect ourselves from this sudden, harsh and unexpected change in our circumstances'

This has been sitting for weeks for cheaper than 2 x net cash - those on the sidelines / deramping this hoping for even lower deserve missing out for their greed!

This must be the biggest single day rise in a long time?!

I'm hoping it comes further down the line. Lots to be optimistic about right now despite the terrible year holding these shares. There's a transition going on at the top, the covid backdrop is deteriorating at a rapid rate, PCR testing is remaining high despite being over 18 months into the pandemic and the cash war chest continues to appreciate as every day passes.

Let's have a positive news rich period topped off with the DHSC resolution at the end of it!

I've been comforted all week with the rock solid support at 250p and took the decision to add substantially this morning - lovely timing it looks like!

Johnny if I'm correct novacyt only ever provided half year results and full year prior to covid. This changed at the start of the pandemic and we began getting monthly operational updates through February 2020 to I think July and then they switched back to twice yearly.

This year has been inconsistent. We got an rns informing us of the DHSC dispute which also gave us the first three months of the year's revenue (effectively a Q1 update), we then got a trading update in the full year 2020 results which gave us the first five months of the year's revenue and a guidance for the full year and finally we got the half year update/results.

No guarantee of anymore trading updates prior to the full year update.

We can't be certain of getting them at all, we only got Q1 figures because it came with the DHSC dispute announcement...

Would like t think so though, along with a full year revenue upgrade, otherwise we've got three months to wait for full year results.

I'd argue that without the deteriorating covid backdrop we might now be at risk of seeing much further share price erosion before the next rns.

I don't agree with you RBMInvest we are not beyond market sector sentiment - whilst the deteriorating covid backdrop won't be enough by itself to kickstart a rally here it will certainly add serious oomph if/when ncyt news lands.

A lot depends short-term on how bothered DA is in rebuilding investor interest, this might not be his first priority.
