As the previous replies have said, it's swings and roundabouts with dividends. The price will drop ex-div date, but if you look at the trend of this share over the past 3 months, it is on an upward trajectory, so it is possible that after the ex-div share drop, the price will rise again. Aviva is a strong company and with recent results and the take over of companies such as Direct Line and Probitas, it should only get stronger. However, as always with life, there are no definites. An earthquake in California could upset the whole thing!

I also bought in here after the drop, so a little disappointed that the results were taken negatively. The results were good at the end of the day, so I'm sticking around. I can't see any obvious reason why it would continue to drop.

Either way, I can't see this share going any other way than upwards. This evening, Macron has made a speech on national television basically saying America are divorcing themselves from Europe and we need to step up on our defence spending. That's a serious step, making the announcement on state TV...

Bought into defense - Chemring. Subject to a takeover bid and with the current global situation, probably a bit further to go. Current bid (390p) rejected, so awaiting a higher offer. Full order books which are about to get fuller. Could BAE be a counter suitor?? We'll see.

Look at RR today. Results day for them too, up 16%.... Surely their results were factored in too?!

Spire Healthcare jumped to the top of the FTSE 250 on Friday following a report that India’s Narayana Health is in talks with the company’s shareholders about buying a controlling stake.

The Economic Times cited people familiar with the matter as saying that Narayana plans to buy at least 51% of Spire via an open offer. It also said that if Narayana manages to buy around 75%, it may consider taking the company private.

I'm sure she's done the maths. To me, I think it's a great idea. Probably cheaper than trying to gain these customers any other way, plus they can easily cross-sell their products. Also, they're removing some of the competition.

I'm sure they'll get their money back.

I was naively waiting for this moment, hoping an interest rate cut would help the company's fortunes. But alas, how silly of me. Maybe their borrowings are already set at predetermined fixed rates...
