Yes, especially at the moment. So many trades being filled in the background. If you have been watching over the last few days, you will have noticed that many many trades are being posted after hours or as delayed trades while the MMs balance their books.

Agreed. Sometimes use a sell limit to stop my holding being lent out, or to catch an upward spike, but not a stop loss.

Why have a stop loss set up in the first place? Not as if we are teetering on the edge or something.

Happens all to often. When you see a stonking RNS, the SP does not always go vertical, sometimes barely a ripple or a fall, same with a bad RNS, though more often the SP will fall, but not always. The MM are in it to make money, and control the market. They will often be aware of impending news and be ready for it, so keep the SP under some sort of control. The only time they get caught with their pants down is when some good news appears from nowhere and the PIs get a good march on them.

I think we are having a similar afternoon to yesterday, lots of trades going on in the background and would not be surprised if another batch of delayed trades are announced later or after hours. Also, the SP having a breather is nothing new, best part of 100% growth in a week, probably needs it.

Sometimes the real fun kicks off the following day, like a story the first page is often boring, so although somewhat surprised by the price action today, not worried. It is a marathon not a sprint.
To coin a phrase, we are entering a news rich period. Like many, I have held and been adding over time, another day or so is no big deal.
