RE: POC kit1 Nov 2020 13:21
@bigal
i think we must be in a good position but others have POC units at same stage I believe we will be on a par with them.
Our POC unit has gone through US DOD procurement procedure which is very robust process we have also had many years development to knock the kinks out. We also have a who approved test for HepC on this platform, So on that front we should be stood in good stead we know that bit works.
The issue for any POC test is using saliva. Technick will be able to describe reasons better than i but RNAS load in spit is lower i believe and therefore you need more cycles of replication to gain results which takes time (which is what we are trying to cut down).
This though is what Genedrive specializes in and there are some top class brains in this small company all with a vision and a focus, My dad always spoke very highly of the RandD director Gino Mieli.
All i can say is that what ever comes out at the end will be top draw and will do "exactly what it says on the tin".
My gut feeling is we have to be closer than most. From what i understand we are converting a test we know works to a different platform which we know works. The hold ups will be approvals again i fear. though CE mark seams almost like self cert at minute.
The value of the Genedrive unit becomes apparent if this test takes off. The units versatility is one of its main strengths.
