@ the buyer- I sympathise with your sons predicament, not sure about employees leaving in droves as that's certainly not the case here i am but no, pay rises and bonus's are a luxury as are Dividends when a company is in profit- RR are not, and it will be some time before it is again. its hunker down and maintain and wait for the storm to pass.
without sounding harsh, your Son is lucky to have a job whilst so many were made redundant- i had to apply for my role against 200 others! not nice but the day is darkest before the Dawn and RR will come out of this( if it doesn't then hopefully nobody will recall this) lol

Meh not really "insider" per say.. we don't know anymore than the avg trader. @SMont- i think RR realise that the future is changing for Green (finally) investing more into electric, Nuclear plants (not massively green but going in the right kind of direction) we still make engines for other military groups in marine, we are involved with the new fighter "Tempest" which is a brand new engine. we have ties in with the "boom" (new supersonic aircraft) and we consult a great deal- believe it or not RR are still regarded highly by the world and we have been making engines a looooong time. the kind of gravitas that sticks around a long while despite the current situation in the world. Air miles is our biggest earner this is true but our portfolio is increasing in other areas which can better prepare us for whats ahead. looking forward to smashing the current electric plane record soon! all these feathers in a cap our size and traders on here think we are in a position to be taken over.. no chance.. and even IF there was a remote possibility of that (IF!!!) the government cannot allow RR to close. we are far to involved in defence- we are still maintaining the Harriers for the USA for gods sake lol

@SMont, you are correct in what you are saying. however there is a serious lack of engineering skill level in the UK and by farming out the "old" as you put it lol..... we are also removing some of the key skills and experience which nowadays isn't taught (old school engineering) in schools- this is a major worry across all engineering and there is a real sense of worry when the older population of engineers retire! another conv for another day! :)

i have both, personal and ones given by the company- I like many have heavily invested in RR- very senior management have invested with re-mortgaged houses and even taken large loads to buy at prices below £1 as we know if will take one spark to ignite this and then there is no going back. internal emails are positive. obv closing in July for 2 weeks is still not well received and in there are a lot of questions surrounding the need to do so now and in fact we are now on a huge recruitment drive.. again a tad silly to make so many redundant one minute to then need them back again "Doh" but again that's encouraging that they are now needed- the customer orderbooks are starting to come back and we are being asked to make commit on engines again... once the buzz word on the news ceases to be COVID and the panicking caused by the media starts to quieten down this will start to grow again... perhaps if Harry and Megan do something interesting the focus will change again...….

I work at RR and we don't know what's going to happen to the share price though our orderbooks are still growing, lots of projects happening in the background but sadly mostly dependant on routes re-opening. I will say that the idea of RR being bought out is ridiculous.. we have so much liquidity to see us through the next year and being that we are one of the UK's best quality exports and one of its major military contractors its really silly to suggest its a company waiting for "takeover" People need to be realistic about the share price and stop spreading rumours based on nothing. this WILL recover in time but it is a long term hold share. the constant bickering on here is pointless and a waste of time. just stick to the facts and if you havent got anything to say... don't say anything
