Not all tests are of the same quality. 50k tests may seem low but it is only an initial order plus DAM will likely have existing stocks to run through from previous supplier(s). DAM could be ordering on a weekly basis. The cost price is commercially sensitive so it could just as well be £15 per gold standard test.

Why do you assume so cheap? DAM charge £29 for these tests, their margin cannot be more than 50% on an exclusive basis, so cost price around £15 per test.

So my logic from the tweet is “... the Mologic antigen test which would be branded as a VISITECT test - alongside the production for the UK Government” (of the same Mologic test which will be branded NHS Test and Trace).

The Government test will most likely be branded NHS test and trace, same as the tests that are currently being handed out for free, regardless of the manufacturer.

IMO that tweet logically implies it is the Mologic test that ODX will manufacture for the Govt. The opening sentence already states the manufacturing capacity used for Govt supply will still leave LFT captivity for other uses. To go onto say that part of the “other” capacity would be used to produce Mologic antigen test branded as VISITECT (ODX own) brand - ALONGSIDE the production for the UK Government - implies production of the Mologic test (probably in NHS branding), otherwise it’s just a repeat of the first part of the sentence which would be unnecessary.

The free LFT we have collected locally have a Xiamen Biotime Qualification Certificate in an NHS Test and Trace branded box. I would expect, regardless of who makes the tests, the box will always be the same NHS branded box, just the certification paperwork (for those that care to read it, like us) will be different and identify who the manufacturer is.

Also I don’t think lack of MHRA approval for home use has anything to do with the quality of the test, but rather has more to do with tester behaviour following the result of the test.

Makes no commercial difference, cancelled or expires = no orders under said contract. From Govt perspective cancelling the contract adds weight to their legal defence against GLP. Going forward orders will be made on dynamic purchasing ad hoc basis so no contract as such just purchase order and buy.

According to Abingdon IPO prospectus the Government have submitted initial purchase order for 1m tests out of a framework for 10m tests, which could be extended to 15m tests.

I think the £10m for materials plus the £75m so total £85m covers the initial framework of 10m tests (of which only 1m so far officially ordered) so that equates to £8.50 per test.

It’s entirely plausible that when vaccine is administered by GP that they require you to take the AbC-19 test on the same visit.

1st jab: GP gives AbC-19 test first to check for antibodies.

2nd jab: GP gives ABC-19 test again to see if antibodies have developed (if none detected at first visit).

With subsequent follow ups for each of next 3 months, again with a trip to the GP.

The problem with home testing is that not everyone will want to share their result, but if GP administers test alongside vaccine then test results will be recorded.

Only on the follow up tests not everyone will take these up but so long as a statistically significant number do (which is quite likely, out of interest, or to maintain freedom pass if they come into effect) then each vaccine could equate to up to 5 ABC-19 tests.

Home testing is possibly a red herring.

200k ODD should say 200k ODX

On the bidstats website there are 2 contracts awarded to RTC: £10m on 9 Oct and £75m on 20 Oct (links below).

The RNS announcing the initial order of 1m tests was made on 19 Oct referencing the contract having been signed on the 6 Oct. So it would make sense that the 1st contract award on the bidstats website for £10m relates to the initial order of 1m tests.

Note the timing: contract awarded 6 Oct, bidstats lists contract award as 9 Oct, RNS announced on 19 Oct (10 days after bidstats).

If £10m is for first tranche of 1m tests (so £10 per test) then 2nd tranche is for at least 7.5m tests but probably more due to volume discount. I believe RTC have said they could supply UK Govt with 10m tests by end of Jan 2021 so it’s possible that the £75m second tranche is for the balance of 9m tests, or thereabouts.

800k tests per week between Nov and Jan is approx 10m tests so it’s quite feasible that the £75m contract award does relate to a second tranche taking the total Govt order up to circa 10m by end Jan. So yes the 800k per week or 200k to ODD could well be a done deal.

Within the time frame of the initial order with RNS coming 10 days after bidstats listing, takes us to 30 Oct. Its quite possible this could all be confirmed by the end of the week.
