Yes some almost worshiped Thatcher, not me, she ruined a lot of what I held dear just to swell the coffers in the short term.

BB How about selling the family silver, ie utilities, GPO, aerospace,railways,etc. Council houses, of which 40% are now in the hands of private landlords.

We should think strongly about a steel embargo on producers who care little about carbon emissions. I don't think we would be allowed to because of EU ties. Another good reason to leave.

Call me a racist bigot if you like but I don't think you can blame British steel's problems solely on brexit. Too many remainders ready to blame brexit for any problem. The problem is to many two faced MPs ignoring their constituents.

A little rant now and again doesn't hurt anyone. Its understandable when you see so many children born into communities that have no intention of working, that think society owes them a living and a roof over their heads.
I think Thatcher should take a lot of the blame for creating some of these communities, especially in mining villages.
Take away their jobs, idle hands make work for the devil so they say. Slippery slope.

That was good seer, sums things up. There needs to be an incentive to stand on your own two feet and stop scrounging.

I think I can see where you are coming from, correct me if I'm wrong, you are saying land tax would be an incentive to sell. Don't you think it would be a deterant to buy, because as soon as you buy it you then would have the tax liability.

Don't follow, I must be a bit slow on the uptake. Are you referring just to building land? Land tax would be extra revenue paid by whoever owns the land. How would more people be owning it? Land doesn't transfer ownership just because it is taxed..
Did think I answered this earlier but it seemed to have disappeared.

Strange that those who don't have something want those that do to be taxed on it. Just an observation.

Beg to differ, "I would not like to BBC Privatised" same as I didn't approve of mining, steel, motor, utilities. Threw loads of very skilled and capable people on the scrap heap only to pay millions in dole money. Destroyed communities.

I would not like to BBC Privatised, it would just lead to more advertisements, and lets face it they are a bane on our lives. All they need are more independent,transparent and fair minded governors.

An extension is probably what will happen. No risk on their part whatsoever. It's not as though they are not getting a very fair remuneration.
