The UK Government has just singled out MESH as a project of national significance under Section 35, endorsed directly by the Secretary of State for Energy Security & Net Zero. This is the HIGHEST level of recognition possible for an energy project in the UK.
What this means:
- 80% of MESH (LDES, Graphite, Ammonia, Hydrogen) can now fast-track approvals as a single, unified mega-project instead of wasting years on piecemeal consents.
- This streamlined approval process keeps timelines on track for FID and beyond - removing the biggest regulatory bottlenecks.
- The remaining 20% (offshore gas production + storage) is still awaiting NSTA approval, but given DESNZ is the sole stakeholder of the NSTA, this is now seen as a formality.
