ZPZP: You can only sell the rights to buy at .85p. The actual shares will not exist until 3rd April. Todays price of 71p (for the rights) gives a price for the new shares of £1.56 per share, (.71p + .85p), which is about the level prior to the announcement.

WilyCoyote - Don't despair! I just spoke with HL and they said 'No problem, we'll swallowtail for you'. What they did was to sell the rights on the market and then ring fence the proceeds to buy on 3rd April at 85p. This is within the ISA rules and avoids buying outside the ISA.

Matt23 I think you must have sold the rights as the actual shares will not be issued until the 3rd April.

It does happen. I had such a payment a couple of years ago, can't remember the share, but it usually isn't a fortune. The bad news with this RI is that all those taking up the rights have to do so before close of play on the 31st. Which means if, as I am, you are ISA'd out, you need to sell something to release sufficient funds or buy outside your ISA, meaning CGT when you sell (if in profit of course). So, I might sell the rights and buy more 'Free' shares with the proceeds. Although the SP has fallen by a similar amount, I will end up with more shares, which will hopefully regain and even exceed the pre RI price.

The special divi has been announced already. There will be 4 special payments of 45p in addition to the normal divi's. This brings the total dividend to £3.38 (if maintained) which is a return of over 8%. They have decided on the Special divi's as an alternative way of returning cash to SH's. The buy back plan has been suspended for the time being.

I can't understand how the ealier poster managed to sell his 'New' shares, perhaps he sold his existing shares or possibly his rights.

...Thursday anybody? I think they'll announce the first of the Specil Divi's for those on the register at that time. Other than that, I think the bad news was out in the last update, so movement should be up. Still offering 8% return, which makes them worth holding.

The selling price will be the SP on the day. The 'New' shares will have the same value as existing shares. If you decide not to take up the RI, you may sell the rights. Speak to your stockbroker and they will advise you when you can sell the rights and for how much. The last day of acceptance will be 3rd April.

Once the shares are paid for, they can be dealt from 4th April.

Of course you're right. 85p. I was overcome with excitement when I opened my ISA and saw the 'New' 3500 shares.

Well, I just got the right to buy another 3,500 shares at 64.25p each. Even allowing for the expected fall in SP, I'd say we've done pretty well.

Excellent find and has put it all in a nutshell. I've been a fan for a couple of years and felt that things were going well, until a few weeks ago. This statement is a boost to my confidence and I look forward to increasing my holding whilst the sale is on! Lindoser: Great minds think alike apparently!

Good appointment I think. A wealth of experience and some good contacts. Would be nice to see a show of confidence by his buying a good wodge whilst the SP is at a depressed level.

As you say, a good sign indeed, but it seems a bit odd that he should pay such a high price. Bad advice or just a rash purchase? He could certainly have bought better, but all the same very positive for shareholders with the RI coming up.

The upgrade is the main mover I think, but there could be more to it. I'm still awaiting a RNS telling us that PM has been sold to the Chinese, and I think the RI will give LRD room to move further into the CV market, possibly through acquisitions. TRAK are a likely candidate as the SP is depressed at the moment, but they are quite a way down the road in CV and would make a good fit with LRD. All IMHO of course. If the increase today was on rumour, I'd expect a retrace next week if nothing happened, but I have great belief in LRD and feel that they have made the right moves and will go from strength to strength over the next couple of years.
