Helium One's maiden drilling campaign is the culmination of many years of study, growing from early work conducted with the University of Oxford Noble Gas Group to encompass data sets from Airborne Gravity Gradiometry, Macro-Seep sampling and analyses, soil gas surveys, satellite mapping and recent additional infill 2D seismic. The Company plans a three well programme targeting shallow structures in close proximity to the Itumbula Helium Seeps. Each well is planned to test a different trapping style, therefore providing information essential in de-risking our portfolio of prospects across the basin.

Drilling of the first well is expected to take approximately one month to complete and will produce valuable information about the subsurface. Helium detection will be constantly monitored during drilling to identify helium gas shows from mud logging. On completion, wireline logs will be run to measure formation properties downhole, as well as identifying any pay zones in the success case. Any discovery will be tested with a drill stem test to attempt to flow a sample of gas to surface for grade analysis.

Helium One (AIM: HE1) ("Helium One" or "the Company") is pleased to announce the commencement of its exploration drilling programme at the Rukwa Project (100%) in Tanzania.

Highlights:

· Drilling has commenced at Tai; a 'must drill' three-way dip closure, upgraded by the Company's recent 2D infill seismic
· Three well exploration programme targeting shallow trap structures to a maximum depth of 1200m
· Exploration drilling includes:
o Micro gas chromatograph and mini mass spectrometer used to identify elevated levels of helium in mud and reportable as a helium show
o Wireline logs to identify reservoir and seal units and to confirm pay zones in success case
o Drill Stem Testing unit to attempt to flow helium gas samples to surface
· Each well will take circa one month to complete

Drilling

Helium One commenced exploration drilling at its flagship Rukwa Project in Tanzania at 4pm local time on Saturday 12th June. Rukwa is a globally unique, large-scale, high-grade, primary helium project in Tanzania with the potential to become a strategic asset in resolving a supply-constrained market. SRK Consulting have reported a 'Best Estimate' Un-risked prospective recoverable helium resource of 138 Bcf (2U/P50), the largest listed primary helium deposit in the world, with helium measured in surface seeps at up to 10.6% He.

Drilling has commenced at the Tai prospect, a faulted three-way dip closure concurrent with a gravity high which was upgraded from 'low priority' to 'must drill' by the recent 200 line kilometre infill 2D seismic campaign. The prospect has been chosen as our first well because of the presence of stacked targets within a well-defined structural closure. By focussing on stacked closures in our first exploration well, Helium One hopes to identify multiple zones with the highest quality seal potential to assist in the planning of subsequent wells.

Google must have been listening to our moaning, as it appears to be working correctly again with 5 minute updates!

The other point to consider is that Mitchell Drilling have payment options as shares in the next drills, so if they assess Tai-1 as being a real find, then they may well place a rig at each site to speed up the process and also their return on investment. I think this is why Tai-1 is being worked through very carefully, as it's results will be the determining factor in all the future planning.
I just think that the operation is being extremely carefully managed at this point in time, and when we get results, good or poor, they will will make the decisions going forward.

The glorious 12th might not be a bad shout. Exactly 2 months from first drilling on 12th June.
Programme was 4 weeks drilling, add on 2 weeks for slow drill and casing of first 70 metres plus fishing and sidetrack, then I reckon a further 2 weeks for re-calibrating equipment, side-logging, testing and analysis, possibly with back-up tests to confirm some of the results . That’s 2 months and they won’t release an RNS on Friday 13th - will they? So I am chilling out until next Thursday - then it’s Champagne Party time (charged with helium bubbles). GLA

Looks like a good number of PI's are putting some Icing on their Cake, but seems strange that the Share Trades are all showing as buys on this site. Is there a glitch in the data processing, as yesterday was showing each trade twice, and then packed in before 3pm. Does anyone have data from a different platform showing sells?

Main message from this tweet is that the Rig is turning the drill in the video, hopefully from last few days

A technical question from a layman - how do the install the steel liner tubes to allow cementing if the drill has to become directional to bypass the lost drill bit and string tubes? Can you use flexible liners, or is the deflection so minimal that you can still use the flex in the steel tubes?

I have been following your detective work on the pipes used to calculate the depth achieved, but it looks to me from the pictures released that there are lengths of drive bits for the drill head siting in the cradle which appear to be 6m sections, but some of the other pipes appear to be of larger diameter, and will be casing pipes (or liners) which are put in place and cemented once the drill head is lifted out, so I don't think every length of tube you can see in the pictures equates to 6 metres depth achieved.
Think there will be different diameter of casing pipes for use as well, depending on the make up and stability of the borehole.

Main thing I take from the picture releases is that the site looks well organised.
I reckon the week after next will be "D" Day!

The original tweet that regurgitated the 21st June release was unfortunate, but the follow up with the pictures and video with DM at the Rig, and then DM's interview today, have only further reassured me that this whole project has been well researched and managed from Day 1.
All the right groundwork is in place, and the geology and science tell a really positive story.
The drill site looks extremely well organised, and in Mitchell Drilling, we have a first class company with A1 equipment carrying out the essential boring, so it just stacks up for me! Happy to wait for the the big news, whenever that comes.
