DD13 - your link to PEAK OIL
Why would we spend the time reading an article written 15 years ago in 2007, when everyone on the planet now knows that Oil, Gas and Plastics are on their deathbeds over the next 30 years( not really a long time in is it?), and that the future is going to be upon us sooner than we could have imagined, due to climate issues, war, and a younger generation that won't stand for all the crap that we and our forefathers generations have peddled over the last century or more?
Critical metals and gases, incl. Helium are the new Oil in the 21st century!
Also, if the free, democratic World which controls >75% of the Total wealth in the world according to Credit Suisse in 2021, decides to reduce dependence on cheap Chinese products, many of which are plastic, then I don't think it is very likely that the Yuan will become the go to World dominant currency in oil trade or overall.
World Wealth (USD bn) Share
World 418,34 100.0%
Northern America 136,316 32.6%
Europe 103,213 24.7%
Asia-Pacific 75,227 18.0%
China 74,884 17.9%
India 12,833 3.1%
Latin America 10,872 2.6%
Africa 4,946 1.2%
It may well be that globalisation is over, and shipping plastic Christmas lights, halloween costumes, and cheap barbecues that rust away after 2 years, and other throw away goods, will be replaced by a resurgence in home produced goods, albeit more expensive initially, be more durable, and cost effective in the long run.
Russia is finished as a Superpower, China will have to manage itself more delicately going forward to continue trading with the free world, and India will have to wake up to the fact that the free world is the real market with the buying power. Rant over!
Helium is in our future. GLA Not long now!
