Looking at Gallium and Germanium 1 year on, a real increase in prices.
Gallium now 100% up and Germanium 75%, yet the initial reaction was subdued, especially for Germanium.
China will announce new strict RE measures on 1st October, stating 'they belong to the state'
https://asia.nikkei.com/Business/Markets/Commodities/China-says-rare-earths-belong-to-state-in-new-regulation
Management of rare-earth resources "shall implement the lines, principles, policies, decisions and arrangements of the [Chinese Communist] Party and the State ... and follow the principles of overall planning, ensuring safety, scientific and technological innovation, and green development,"
Does this mean they will restrict RE exports? It doesn't seem likely, as they just announced a higher quota... tariffs perhaps? Or increased internal demand?
Who knows, but if they do restrict RE exports or place tariffs, expect our basket price to increase considerably over the next 12 months, similar to that of Germanium and Gallium - as MKA has three offerings (recycling, mining and processing) it would be one of the most exposed investments listed in the UK, if not THE investment.
