testing doesn't save lives any more, omicron has. By opening up governments are saying its a natural vaccine against previous variants as it doesn't fill up hospitals. That was always their goal. "Welcome omicron!" is what they are saying. UK, FR, DEN, NL, ch etc etc are holding one big omicron party. The only reason to be tested is to get an official stamp to say you have immunity which may enable unrestricted travel and freedom in the future.

Time will tell whether they are right or wrong. personally , I think they will just create a new variant which is likely to be less dangerous but that is not a given by any means. The second variant of the spanish flu killed more than the first.

I think everyone agrees that covid is not over but the question for the last 2 years is whether Mr Budd can sell GDR's covid products. In his mind AIHL is the flagship product, not the poc. There are many companies selling similar and better poc's (pcr not lamp), then there are the corrupt governments and the woefully incompetent Bod at GDR. GDR is a casino share and just like a casino you have to leave after you've won. Many have done that, enjoyed there winnings and are prepared for another punt on black. Good look to you all. I may join you soon, western european governments are on the track of herd immunity, it's the party donors wet dream to keep everything open and let the weak die (ie over 50's). Only another potentially dangerous variant will cause them to change their minds. It's every man, woman and child for himself now. Western lockdowns did not work against omicron (eg the dutch reported R number of 1.19 despite their relatively strict lockdown) , so why bother? Boris is looking forward to more parties and intensive care units are not as full as they were with Delta. People won't even bother getting tested now in order to avoid quarantine. I think omicron will stop the Russians invading Ukraine too, or at least postpone the invasion.
