What price did you buy at vs what bid and ask were around that time? I've always thought that there needs to be a buyer and seller for every share and I assumed the colour was based on whether the initial mover was someone wanting to sell shares or whether initial mover was a purchaser. Ie if shown as red, you mopped up someone else's shares who was actively trying to get rid of them at that point. If no one had been selling in front of you and you wanted to buy, then someone would have sold after you bid for shares to allow you to purchase would be blue. That's just how I picture it in my head. In reality I think it is based on average sale price vs bid/ask. Ie If lower than the mean, then red, higher is blue. I'm sure someone explained it better on one of the pages recently (I only really read here, kod, sav and cgo, so would have been one of them.
