The latest Investing Matters Podcast with Jean Roche, Co-Manager of Schroder UK Mid Cap Investment Trust has just been released. Listen here.
Well, it's because I've heard it all (seen the patterns) before on the other assets we hold.
CB: 'Blah blah [African assets], this will be up and running in the next month' - Now the missed deliverables start in Australia (Which I did suggest would happen when he first bought the asset).
As I mentioned, I'm pi@@ed with myself for not escaping @7-8p
'It would be great to get a clear statement on all projects, in an RNS not an interview, with current status and future plans for everything. Similar to the annual report.' - A very good idea Steve.
meepmeep164 - we can chat about it again when you've been here for years and heard all his excuses before.
FYI - I had been offloading ~7p but when you have ~12m it's not that easy!
'1500m strike x 600m deep x 250m wide (my estimate from the map) gives c1.5m tons of copper at 0.25%' - You cannot assume it's a perfect rectangle and, moreover, homogeneous throughout the section.
TBH, I'm, almost, as frustrated with myself. Having been here so long, and knowing what he's like, I should have sold way back.
' I understand your frustration but bear in mind that CB cannot just blurt out that we have 2MT'
C7 - with the greatest respect he's been alluding that it will not be a problem for months! I actually have a mobile phone video stating that RC WILL trigger the AA clause from last year!
'Something seemed a tad off with that interview.' - Agreed, his tone was way off his usual 'it's in the bag/we got a T1 asset' - He's also had to backtrack on his past comments 'it's not a colander, we will not drill past May.
My opinion is they, pretty much know what they have at RC and it's just not meeting what Bird has led us to believe. He's been clearly spouting off before he had all the info from the geo boys and now they have to go back and drill more.
The question is, where's the $$ coming from to do this? - The coffers must be running low by now?
Uscita - I'm quite frankly sick of his BS. I look forward to the AGM!
he did say he would inform the market, in the next few days, when FB is up and running?
Anyone ever had a reply from the xtr email address? - I'm really sick and tired of Bird's constant misdirection....
Seems, once again, Birds timelines have gone out of the window - What a surprise. I note his tone was tempered for once - Unsurprising as in his last interview he was quite adamant he would meet his deliverables, for once!
My impression is that we have not met the 2MT and further drilling is required. I guess it will be closer to xmas before the long promised open pit model is released.
Eureka - Didn't he say they were moving earth last September? - And suddenly is about to happen soon....
Is it so hard to be honest and upfront with shareholders Colin? - You wonder why the SP is not moving but your constantly switching tack and missing deliverables. surely you cannot be surprised that there is no trust in your word?
'It will be interim simply because the are still processing drills.' - Not much more to process in terms of RC drill results though surely? ( Unless they plan on another drill programme in that region. )
I imagine they would be consistently update the model as they go along, they are not going to hold off until all data is complete.
To me, the term 'interim' means there is still major work required to gather and complete which does not add up. As I mentioned, why release an unfinished model if the final one is only a couple of months off?
'Agreed. But for this timescale he was unusually unequivocal and absolute, not like the others with his "hopeful", trying to, want to etc'
That's a fair comment, we shall see.
I do note he used the term " 'hopefully' a major new pit" when referring to RC in his recent JLP interview.
I hope I am wrong Andrew, You've been here as long as I have so you know all the 'tales' as well as I do.
I mean even in terms of building the model the timelines don't feel right - I have years of experience building 3D mathematical/Engineering models so I have a good understanding of what it takes. The software package they used didn't look unfamiliar to me. Why are they suddenly reworking it, why are they releasing only an interim model when, the bulk of, RC data has not changed in some time? The dill holes haven't moved, the grades haven't changed.
Yes, some revision in terms of optimising the open pit size placement of mine plant but his is usually quick work when a model is mature. It looked fairly mature back when we saw the model some time ago. Obviously my experience is not in mining modelling but something ain't adding up!
I am still waiting for JLP's Tjate to be developed. 5 years is nothing .............. - There does appear to be a pattern of missed deliverables with any company Bird is invested in.
After reading the 'interim' statement today, I'm getting the feeling they are struggling to meet the 2MT target at RC and are relying on Ascot to meet - Despite what Bird has been telling us/the market for months.
I'd be very happy to be wrong on this but experience with Bird leads me to think otherwise...
'April /May 2024 Gixxer !.. an OUCH for even a patient type like me there :-)..' - Considering Manica is almost 5 years behind schedule I wouldn't be surprised NTMU
'So we may find the open pit announcement is end June / early July - at the very latest.' - Not feeling that at all A4444, if they were so close to a final model, 4 weeks or so late, what would be the point of releasing an 'interim' model. Would seem like a complete waste of work to me...
Also not seeing anything spectacular from these assay results, especially if it's expected to be a gold centric system. It's early days though in terms of results from the Ascot system.
'We intend to issue a release shortly that gives an interim summary of the Racecourse and Ascot prospects.'
An interim summary?? - Based off Birds comments, in the last few months, is the market not expecting a final open pit model and mine arrangement for the RC system? We were told this would be released April/May, Bird even specifically responded to comments on the board regarding a late deliverable that 'it would not be missed'.
It seems, once again, he moving the goalposts. Or possibly it's another misunderstanding eh CB you actually meant April/May 2024?!
'I’m leaning more towards presentation being cancelled as not enough evidence for Ascot could be given.'
That makes no sense as the paper would have been pre-submitted for scrutiny , and accepted, way before the conference start date. (I've presented papers at similar conferences in the past)
