Yes I do mean you will have less shares. eg if a company has 100 shares @ £1 and sells off 10% of the company each share would be worth 10% less 90p
To keep the same SP, normally a consolidation takes place and the new company will now have 90 shares at a £1 (same value as 100 @ 90p.) You also have the cash, the return of value of 10p again matching the value you started with.
To get the same amount of shares you started with you need to by back the shares with the new cash you now hold, assuming the value doesnt change in the mean time
